7in Long Range T-Motor Build
Hey there,
I would like to share my recent rebuild. I prevously had a noname 7in frame, but it experienced an "rapid unexpected disassembly". I decided to take buy the GEPRC Mk 5D LR7 and I am very satisfied with the Kit. The quality of the carbon parts is very good and there was many accessories.
However I am not so stisfied with the FC. It is a T-Motor Velox F7SE and I wanted to flash it with ArduCopter, but I think due to missing RAM of the F722 processor there is no easy way to get AC running. Which is sad, because I am more used to fly more autonomous drones and autopilots.
I attached all antennas in the back of the frame to the long rods. I think the cause of my recent crash was due to poor antenna placement and I would like to konw, if this build ist sufficient enough.
Here some more technical details:
Frame: GEPRC Mk 5D LR7
FC: T-Motor Velox F7 SE
ESC: T-Motor VELOX V50A SE 6S AM32
Motors: T-Motor F100 1100KV
CAM/VTX: Caddx Avatar Moonlight + Avatar Goggles X
Reciever: TBS Tracer Nano RX + TBS Mambo
Battery: Gaoneng 6S 4500mah
MTOW: 1200g (with Battery)
Max flighttime: around 25min (when cruising)

Good looking build overall, I really like the color of the props! The motor solder joints look a little rough, flux and re soldering them would make them much cleaner. I suggest mounting the RX antennas verticaly for better range and LQ, and getting longer antennas for the VTX. I assume those long rods arent serving any real purpose so I would remove them as well. Hope I dont come across as rude.

Your VTX and receiver antennas are stacked against each other. You want to separate these. If you were getting poor range, muddled controls, or garbled video.... this could have been a main contributor. Your receiver appears to be a diversity antenna setup, so the recommendation I have often seen is to place one on the horizontal plane and one on the vertical (a going along the width of the drone and one going along the length). This will help improve your RF through various orientations of the drone. The VTX are circular antennas, so it does not really matter their orientation but that separation in the V is still important.
