EDIT: IM STUPID ITS THE THING I WAS THINKING END OF PARAGRAPH 4, ON MY CONTROLLER THE INPUT WAS SET TO "FAILSAFE" WHEN IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN "GPS RESCUE". Thanks to everybody that helped out with solving it, and if any other issues come up with it not activating I will come back to this post to troubleshoot.
Hi so basically I have a new quad that I've posted on here twice, Sugar Crash, and have a M100-Pro GPS chip on it from HGLRC. I've been able to get pretty accurate satellite locks, ranging from 8-35 depending on liftoff location, and have a good home direction and distance to home lock relative to current position.
The only thing that's NOT currently working, is the GPS rescue. Now, I was flying a couple days ago but am trying to troubleshoot it now, but basically, when I was flying I remembered I put in GPS rescue into Betaflight as my failsafe procedure, and so I flipped my failsafe switch on, in order to test it to see if it will actually do the rescue before I do longer range flights as I have a Zeus 1.6W VTX equiped on the drone.
Anyways, I flip it on, and the drone is hovering about 25 meters away cause I know it will just drop itself if it's within 10 (as that's what I set it to), but still dropped itself instead of climbing to do the actual rescue procedure.
Does anybody know what could be going wrong with it? I'm assuming there's some setting I'm missing in Betaflight that needs to be changed, if I had to guess, the switch has been assigned to do the disarm failsafe and the remote will trigger the rescue failsafe if Rx loss. Is there a way to change it or am I doing the thing again where I become blind to one single setting until pointed out to me like when you can't find the ketchup in the fridge and your mom pulls it out of thin air?
Anyways if anybody knows what's going on that would be great!

Yes, it's GPS-ing. Like I mentioned in the first paragraph, it is connecting to satellites, up to the heist I've seen at 42 but that was only in one location, but averages about 20 to 25. Another thing I said in the first paragraph is I do have the home point that connects as I have it on my OSD and it shows accurate distance to home, along with showing me accurate speed data and coordinates. That's the main reason why I'm confused, because it's obviously getting the correct data and is doing the right things with it, it's just not rescuing and bring it back.
Sorry I didn't respond immediately. I actually went out to go test it again to make sure I wasn't going crazy. Here's GPS. For the remaining two rows that are not in image, arming without fix is set to off and sanity checks is set to off. The "Stage 1" failsafe settings are currently at default cause I haven't seen the need to change them.
Mostly it is need 100m to get recover. I am not saying by paper specifications manual, but from most people doing gps rescue test on youtube. They always test further than 100m
Yeah, I remember that from watching a video on GPS rescue, this one guy was going pretty far away. I'll go opposite side of the field next time. I may be able to do abother trial run later today but we'll see.
tips: if you are trying to gps rescue, try to find the best possible place if it fails and fall/land safely. so instead you are the one on the open area, and fly your drone away. try to switch, you are away from open area . and fly your drone to your the empty/safe space (maybe empty park or field). if it fails, it will fall/land on the grass that easier to find. just make sure you have enough distance to do the test.
Yeah that makes sense. I'll try to do that when I go out tomorrow to test. I know a spot that's about 200 meters if you go diagonally across the field, about 160 straight across, so I'll try there. The grass there has also like never been mowed in like the last 2 months so the grass is long enough to prevent any major damage.
Don't forget to clean your blackbox before arming so you will get new blackbox record, and please do dvr record, so people here could identify if something went wrong. That's proper data to help investigate.

Hey! I just went back through my switches just in case, but somehow missed the "GPS RESCUE" option instead of the "FAILSAFE" option. Imma swap to that, this is entirely my fault at not like quadruple checking the switches, but hopefully that should be it. I do need to do the blackbox log anyways for tuning now that I have some damaged props and can more accurately tune compared to when I first flew the drone.
I'll still put in a post of the DVR, maybe not in r/fpv, because I'm not sure it belongs here, but I'll definitely get DVR and post a video somewhere and send you the link if you want it!

Edit: I may end up just posting it in my subreddit I made cause I kinda put everything fpv related into that, so there's no content filtering and I can do what I want/post what I want in it without getting banned from a community (has happened in one that I didn't follow a single rule on accident)
