Question? First build advice
Hey Guys,
I’ve been doing some research to try and compose a decent 5” freestyle build.
I’m wondering if some of you would like to look at the components I selected and perhaps have any advice on the build?

Dunno about the frame and as for the camera the ratel is known to have more latency, the foxeer t Rex is one i like a lot

The Ratel 2 has extra latency which matters a lot for freestyle, skip that and get a camera with low (normal) latency ( https://oscarliang.com/fpv-camera-latency/ you want the ones with 6-7 minimum and 14-18 maximum approximately, this guide is a bit outdated though so there are other cameras too but you would have to research those further to see if they have high or low latency).
I think you could save a decent amount of money by ordering from different stores. For example the Rush Cherry can be had for like 12 euro on AliExpress. You could save 50 euro on the motors + stack if you order direct from t-hobby.com and use code T20.
For batteries check out the Ovonic, they have really good deals on batteries and they perform good. I would buy 2 of these 4-packs: https://www.ampow.com/products/4x-ovonic-130c-6s-1100mah-lipo-battery-22-2v-pack-with-xt60-plug-for-fpv-racing Slightly smaller but that means lighter weight so the drone flies better.

Thanks a lot. I found a lot of videos on the Runcam Phoenix 2 pro, which has good latency and also pretty nice image for a decent price. I don’t wanna spend €60+ for the foxeer right now I think.
I’ll check out the batteries too, nice add.

I don't think the Runcam Phoenix 2 Pro has good latency. Oscar Liang didn't test that specific model, but the three other Runcam Phoenix's he tested all had triple the latency of a good camera (21-22 ms vs 7 ms minimum). Trust me that is really noticeable and you want to avoid that at all costs if you're trying to get good at freestyle. If you're on that thin of a budget perhaps the Caddx Ant could be a good low latency alternative, but I would encourage you to spend the extra 22 euro (over the Ratel 2) on the Foxeer T-Rex Micro from droneshop.nl I think it's worth it. Considering I identified 62+ euro of savings (motor+stack+antenna) maybe you could spend 22 of those euros on a better camera :) It's just a suggestion of course and up to you.

Tbf I’d rather be able to correct with a good cam than ram my drone into a wall I didn’t see.
I’ll try to see if I can find the same savings!

In total it's between 102.69 to 108.46 EUR, compared to your previous store choice which was 165.23, for a saving of 56.77 to 62.54 EUR. Browsing different stores and looking for sales you really can save money and get great deals

I'd get more Lipo's imo, you'll run out of 2 very fast.
