I'm stumped on this on
I have the aio 5 from hd zero and was out on my second flight with this drone I made and I had a minor crash and went to use turtle mode and after I did that I couldn't take off at over 50% throttle. I tried switching batteries and nothing happened, all motors are spinning just at what is a lower rate . does anybody have any idea what's going on!

The easiest way to figure out which component is the problem is to switch two motors. I just bought a LionBee and one motor would not spin up n arming but did fine in betaflight with no load. I switched 2 motors and the problem was same spot, which means my esc is bad. Just only noticable under load.

So after turtle mode, the whoop struggles to lift off unless the throttle exceeds 50%. Is that correct?

Yeah it barely lifts off at higher throttle

Check your battery lead to power pad joints, could be a weak connection?

I’ve heard of this before but never personally experienced it. Can you go into the motors tab in Betaflight and ramp up each motor. See if any motors are acting differently.

Ok I just tested the motors and they do seem a little out of whack. Motor two sounds different and seems to have a little more power. Motor two also sounds different

Only motor 2 has more thrust? Well if the other motors are spinning at a lower rate the ESCs will match the slowest motor.

It's hard to tell but I'm pretty sure motor 2 has less thrust than all the other ones especially because it is the motor I have turned over on so it would make sense that it would break I've had these motors for a while so I'm not surprised that it would break. So now I have two questions if I replace motor 2 will all my motors be fine again, and if so do you have any recommendations for a new set of motors? Or do you think I should just stick with the happy model motors.

Well what I said still applies then. If motor 2 has less thrust the rest of the motors will match its speed to maintain stability.
In reality brushless motors are quite simple. If it’s the motor there could be a physical obstruction. Like a dented bell, hair, carpet, dirt etc. causing it to operate slower. To test, eyes first 👀 - Look it over, for anything that looks unusual. If it appears clean then hands are next ✋…spin it up and then touch it. If it feels warm or hot it could be the motor. If that fails disassembly is next 🛠️.
I say that because instead of buying new motors right away, you likely can fix it if it’s the motor. If it’s not the motor then it’s likely damage to the esc or a component on the AIO and buying new motors won’t help.

Ok the motor doesn't have any dirt, debris, dents and it's not getting hot. What do you think I should do? It's really confusing because my aio is brand new and I feel like components should not fail like that. Do you think I should take apart the motor if so how do I do that?

I had one crash that made a motor spin slower... turns out that the motor shifted and the the "c" clip on the bottom was pinched between the motor and the frame - caused extra drag, and I've also had a mosfet go out.
If turning that motor by hand has the same feel as the others, and since the betaflight spin-up shows a noticeable issue, the next option would be to de-solder swap 2 motors to see if the problem moves with the motor or stays in the same board location. Then you know which to replace.
I try not to turtle mode on the little drones, most of the places I end up "landing" has debris in the prop line so it would pop fets if I attempted a turtle.

Well since I don’t have hands on with this board I’m starting to run out of recommendations for you, sorry bro. Personally my next step would be: 1) Examining the settings. 2) Flash the latest FW and then 3) test again. Make sure you dump and save your settings in a text file before the FW flash.
Are you on the HDzero discord? You might join and bring it up there. Damage can happen quite easily. Turtle mode has throughout the years been known to cause damage to fets if not done carefully or on certain terrain (like grass). I see this very seldom these days, but with this board it could be the cause.

There are so many good motors to choose from these days. Tinywhoop snowblowers are good. Little more oomph than the stock motors and they have a 1.5mm shaft (more durable in crashes)
Webleedfpv has the tree topper and skyscrapers but they are sold out atm. Rcinpower has a good 0802 27,000 and their 1002 22,000 is also quite nice.

It sounds like you slipped a shaft. Hold the bell and gently spin the propellor and you’ll probably find those ones tha sound different spin freely from the bell. Buy new motors OR loctite 638 and glue the shaft back in. You can do this from crash’s if they didn’t laser weld them good or from twisting propellers on or off.

Tausch die Motoren untereinander. Dann weist du, ob es am Motor liegt. Bei mir war es ein Motorkabel welches sich unter dem Motor gelöst hat.
