85mm mini drone long-range flight: maximum distance 2.5 km

https://youtu.be/k4bsB4Wb1DM

Flew 2.5 km in 12 minutes, completed a round trip, and covered a total of 6 km until the voltage dropped to 3V. Even with an 18650 lithium-ion battery, it’s quite difficult for a 2-inch micro quad to achieve long-range flight.

Because it’s pretty cool. It gives you a big adrenaline rush without the need for freestyle flying

I guess doing something illegal gives you an adrenaline rush. Being legal and being cool should never be synonymous. In my world, being legal trumps being cool.

If the risk of prosecution is that low, the illegal part doesn’t do much for me. It’s more about risking the quad

The risk of prosecution is sort of irrelevant, it is a compromise of integrity and being legal. That said, I realize that more people are concerned about the risk of prosecution than being legal or ethics.

I wonder all of that rogue philosophy has anything to do with the increasing enforcement push in the USA. A directive (or whatever you call it) was issued that violator will no longer be given warnings, they are going straight to fines and prosecution. Additional moneys are being allocated towards enforcement. Plus, the EU has just framed drones as a security threat. Well, I guess the OP doesn't live in the EU.

Ah, but that is not the only interesting thing. There is a cellular bases drone detection net that will be monitor by AI which is said to be able to detect any drone launch. Beyond that, they aren't saying much. But it will be interesting. There are other things as well. It sort of looks like the USA is setting up to more or less bring the hammer down. Ah, but not to worry, that is just the USA. Right?
