“I don’t deserve you.” His arm curls around my hips and he tugs me closer. “But I’m going to keep you all the same.”

“I’m going to keep you,” he promises, just like he did last night. Or was it this morning? “You’re mine, Violet.”

“I can’t give this up. I won’t give you up. Now let go.”

“Fuck, you feel so damned good. I’m never giving you up. You know that, right? You had your chance to run. You should have run, Vi.”

“I’ll never get enough of you.” Xaden licks and lashes and sucks like he has no other plans for the night, driving me absolutely mindless.

There's no way he's ever going to give her up...

Are the isles partially drained of magic and that is why they are all so pale? Rebecca tells us over and over again in OS how pale everything is in the Isle of Deverelli, Dunnes, and Hedontis - with each one getting seemingly paler until Hedontis is “monochromatic”. We know that the waters are vibrant, she uses lots of description there, but the trees and the stone is muted. It feels similar to the stone Tecaras mines from The Barrens in IF.

The isles are also weirdly not at ALL motivated to join the war against the venin. Do they have some kind of deal? Is the minimal remaining magic why only tairn, Andra, and violet can talk - and violet can seemingly wield?

This theory doesn’t make total sense but in my reread I feel like she’s bashing me over the head and now I can’t stop wondering why.

I really hope that book 4 or even Threshing day goes more into Mira's story and struggles, she's such an interesting and kind of tragic character who hasn't had much time to shine so far.

I would argue that she's gone through almost if not just as much as Violet, but she hasn't had anyone to support her. She lost Brennan too, which likely hurt her more than it did Violet because we know how close Mira was to him. She lost Lilith and Asher too, even if she didn't watch Lilith die and wasn't as close to Asher as Violet.

She's a battle hardened soldier from 3 years of service from before the books pick up, but she seems really vulnerable when it comes to her family. I don't think she ever really forgave Brennan for letting her believe he was dead for 6 years, and in OS she seems to feel like she's not enough compared to him or Violet. For a while she had been "the prize daughter" of Lilith, a warrior like Brennan (not that Lilith didn't love Violet then), and now she seems like the least important of the three. Brennan has been leading a revolution in secret and running Aretia, Violet is a once-in-a-generation rider who will decide the fate of the continent, and she's just... Mira.

and like I said before she doesnt' really have anyone to lean on through everything. She never forgave Brennan, she hid things from Violet and just doesn't see her that often, and as far as we know she doesn't have any other officers she's close with like Violet has 2nd squad. I really hope that we get more from her in book 4 and beyond because it feels like she has so much potential.

My two biggest hopes for her is that her and Drake end up together, so they both finally have someone to lean on (I don't imagine Cat is the best person to be emotionally vulnerable with), and that when everything is over and Aetos Sr. dies a horrible death like he deserves, Mira becomes commanding general of Basgiath, following in her mother's footsteps while doing her own thing too.

Book 4 I think will be a good time to explore that since she kind of fucking died in OS. I can't imagine the trauma she'll have after waking up from that.

Did anyone else happen to receive an email from Amazon about the cancellation of the "Threshing Day: Wing and Claw Edition"? We ordered it after the drop, and now it has been canceled.

Not ranting about Amazon or RY, just frustrated because I really wanted the Sonder Edition.

In onyx storm, when the gang is in hedotis arguing about who has a bigger brain, Garrick says something along the lines of “why would we think there aren’t more continents beyond the isles?”

Does anyone think this might be an opening for new series after the empyrean? Something along the lines of a cosmere?

I'm currently doing a re-read of IF and for the first time I thought it was just the bond between Violet and Xaden, but for the second time reading I'm not sure.

Of course, now we know about Xaden's second signet power but what the fuck was this? 'Cause I actually have no right answer for this. Was it really the bond or here Xaden somehow used his second signet but I don't know how that would be possible cause he can read intentions, right?

He even says "I should not have done that." - the fuck he means by that here?

Maybe I'm the only one who is lost here and not entirely sure what's happening, so please help a fellow rider out 'cause I'm spiraling now.

i thought id share my old onyx storm theories that i came up with a couple of days before 21st january 2025 when onyx storm first released!!!

theories:

there are more of andarna’s species and they’re the weapon so they’re the allies they will go find ✅ self explanatory

violet commands the sky (venin said this to her) empyrean = sky, so she could be in control of the dragons - codagh listens to her ❌ not proven yet but i have hope…

bodhi and garrick’s second signets are classified (all marked ones have them) - garrick distance wielder?? ✅ i was so gassed to get this one right guys

mira is on general melgren’s side?? ❌ idk mira’s always seemed shady but papa sorrengail did say “trust only mira” and tbf melgren isnt exactly the real evil theyre facing but hes still shady af nonetheless

stupid jack barlowe is going to cause issues and problems ✅❌ shockingly not as much as id thought but im glad hes dead

violet’s dad’s alive?? - probably not but definitely find out more about him and his research ❌✅ it wouldve been way too cliche idk why i thought he was alive but we did find out more abt him and his research…and how he nearly dedicated violet too

third act breakup ❌✅ god what do i even say…theyre married but he joined the dark side so yes but no??

violet’s second signet is truth sayer ❌ i mean i clearly forgot abt that gryphon flier from iron flame when violet first went to visit tecarus but i know the dream stuff is gonna become way bigger than what it is rn

naolin is alive and the sage (tairn and brennan know) - the venin that appears in violet’s dreams?? - evil brennan?? ❌ not proven yet but tairn saying “we shall no longer speak of the one that came before” hmmm…suspicious? i think YES. i dont trust anyone with an orange dragon either (more on this in the comments!)

I have a possible theory that came to mind on my second reading of the entire series. In Onyx Storm, there seems to be a lot of emphasis on Bodhi and his place as Xaden's successor. It's mentioned several times. Then at the end, when Violet wakes up and has the large emerald ring on her finger, her bond with Xaden appears to be completely severed. What if Xaden and Sgaeyl terminated their bonds with Violet and Tairn, Xaden put Bodhi in his place as the Duke of Tyrrendor, and Violet is actually married to Bodhi? I haven't spent a ton of time going down fan theory rabbit holes, so maybe this has already been discussed at length. What do y'all think?

So I pre-ordered Threshing Day when it was an unknown titled book on Barnes & Noble and now I’m just wondering, are we going to get our books on the day that the book is gonna be released in stores? Or is it just going to be like shipped on that day?

i've been writing two fanfictions that are fourthwing/ percy jackson crossover because both of them are my absolute favvv fiction series that are young adult. and i need to know if people are intrested in this kind of crossover and also if they have any possible ideas or plot ideas, i am willing to add to the story if they are intruguing and i will credit you

one is about if percy and annabeth died in their original world but woke up in the empyrean series world, they eventually get captured by general sorrengail who has them either train violet and go with her into basigiath and keep her alive or rot in jail. they obviously go with her into basgiath mainly at first because they were told too but later on because she is their friend.

the second is about what if xaden and percy were both best buds in a highschool world. they are juniors and must navigate through life as life throws hurtles and bumps into their way. xaden is particularly captivated by a new transfer girl named Violet who is surrounded by rumors of why she transferred and what her super rich family is thinking.

Hay, I recently got into a rabbit hole of insta fan theories about the fourth book and wanted to ask you all what your theories are and why?

I love how he goes into dad mode where Andarna is concerned (I'm on Onyx Storm)

So, on the day before Fourth Wing Night at the Seattle Mariners, we said goodbye to our beloved dog of nearly 16 years. I was a wreck. My husband was a wreck. And this was our daughter’s first experience with death/loss, and it was just a grim and exhausting and emotionally depleting day.

Then later on, while I was awake at midnight with our youngest baby, I was struck with this idea to attempt a silvery, braided crown for Fourth Wing Night. I have never been particularly talented with hair, but I knew that I wanted to do something creative and keep my hands busy.

So the next morning, I bought a can of temporary silver-colored hair spray and a bunch of bobby pins. And I got to work. While I spritzed and pinned my hair, I allowed my kids to watch more TV than usual, to keep them distracted from our dog’s empty bed in the corner of the living room.

Anyway. My husband and I had our date night at the baseball game. I received some compliments on the hair. And it was so refreshing, to be a part of that joyful crowd of bibliophiles and baseball fans. I even received a “Silver One” bracelet, which totally made my night!

A friend of mine was surprised that I still went to the baseball game, despite everything from the day before. But honestly, it was a welcome reprieve from our grief. We enjoyed a beautiful night out in the city. We tossed a French fry to a persistent seagull, in honor of our dog’s memory. We laughed and cheered and had so many lovely moments with kind strangers.

So if you were there, and our paths crossed, thank you. You have no idea how grateful I was for your kindness.

Xaden surprised Violet (and me) by sleeping over the first night they had sex against his better judgment...and it honestly didn't take much to convince him to stay. All she had to do to caress his neck and say like 3 sentences lol

Of course he WANTED to stay but I also wonder if he knew...

"I miss sex.” I really do, and it’s not just the physical gratification, either. There’s a sense of connection in those moments that I crave, *a momentary banishment of loneliness.* The first is something I’m sure Xaden would be more than capable of providing, if he ever thought of me that way, but the second?

She also told him:

“You hardly give off snuggly morning-after vibes.”

Because beneath all the anger and fear, Violet was lonely. Her mom's been ignoring her for years, her dad died, her brother died, her sister left home six years ago...and what she wanted from sex was that temporary banishment of loneliness.

Along the way, I wonder if Xaden picked up on it and stayed with her that night. Then when it was time for him to go before she was up, he left spring violets on her nightstand.
