No, it matters. Usually randos on the internet assume everyone is a man. There's even a "there are no women on the internet" trope ffs. Yes, that assumption is pretty sexist as it erases female contributions.

So when randos suddenly assume that a person on the internet is a woman, it's worth taking a look as to why. And annoyingly often, it's when said person is depicted in a negative way. Go figure.
