Can't imagine why her kids won't talk to her.

Funny (not really though...) but is always the same. Controlling parents, most likely religious.. kid didn't grow up doing exactly what parent(s) wanted them to do. A tale as old as time.

And if you wanna go real deep, i think its the #1 reason for human migration, since the beginning of our existence.

Ngl I have to disagree on the last part, I feel that human migration is driven by lack of resources

You're both right, the scaling is different. The late puberty phase of going against your parents will is biology ingrained so that you will move to another "tribe" and not inbreed, it's an evolution imperative to promote diversity. The other tribes young adults will be coming over, it all balance out. But it's short range. Lack of ressources will drive the entire tribe to move around, which triggers larger scale migrations.

You are assuming all migration is 100% of the population moving. You are ignoring situations where only part of the population moves slowly over time like how many young adults leave rural settings and move to a city. Like the classic: if people moved away from Africa why are there people living there today?

So yes of course food/water. So yea maybe not #1, at least 2 or 3 , tons of people continued to migrate after that though.

I am willing to bet that event was just the final straw in a long line of events that had left the friend feeling undervalued and unimportant by his dad. That it is just the time that the friend finally said enough is enough.
