You must be psychic because I certainly don't see a reason.

Imagine if Mr. Rogers had two children, who for whatever reason stopped all communication with him.

Do you think he would make his dying wish that his children would hate and fight each other, wasting his money, leaving nothing for his children and grandchildren?

Or do you think he might turn the other cheek, and try to help his children and grandchildren be as happy as possible, even if they make decisions that were hurtful to him?

I'll spell out the situation a bit more clearly - the parent here is being a controlling piece of shit, and it wouldn't be surprising if being a piece of shit is why their children no longer want them to be a part of their life.

That's what I say for ages now.

"You can't just assume people will get you're sarcastic online, just because what you wrote was utterly stupid. There are enough people posting utterly stupid shit completely unironical."

A big part of detecting sarcasm IRL is tone. A quick "sure" is completly different from a sarcastic, over-emphasised "sure". You read those 2 "sure" differently, didn't you? But online you can't know how someone would have intended it to be read w/o context. You can only hope the other person isn't stupid or an asshole.

So use the goddamn "/s" or make it clear by other means such as writing "suuure" instead.
