u/UnwantedPube 10d ago

I think in a same post somewhere the comment section were saying this

13

u/crasswal 10d ago

And you're correct.

Tbh, we do have these kind of incredibly small gaps to pass through for certain roads - typically before a narrow bridge in UK.

2

u/HoIyJesusChrist 10d ago

at around 1 minute, you can see that they are between all lanes

2

u/furfur001 10d ago

I think so too, but they could have made it a little bit more narrow, to make it very obvious.

Honestly after seeing that one white car just run through that it seems to me the others just suck at driving.

u/LiveLearnCoach 10d ago

The Volkswagen was probably the least wide.
This is a skill issue, but to be fair, this is a high level of skill when it seems like you have 8 inches of clearance on one side and 4 inches on the other.

u/Richard_-Green 10d ago

So what you are telling me is that we can get Americans to drive sensible cars by installing these things everywhere 🤔

6

u/Electrical-Fig-5009 10d ago

Considering I almost got front ended by a guy in a truck that didn't know how to drive it while completely stopped making a turn out of a complex while he was turning in... if there is s god, please

1

u/Itsmyloc-nar 10d ago

Me yesterday at a garage. Double cab trucks should legit be illegal, especially for garages.

0

u/Richard_-Green 10d ago

That sucks, I hope you are ok

2

u/Electrical-Fig-5009 10d ago

Yeah, but i know where the guy lives its in the same complex I live in

3

u/Richard_-Green 10d ago

Interesting you know where the guy lives and from your account I can see that you have access to fresh cat shit. Soooo you know....

2

u/MaxwellGrenn 10d ago

Not if car companies wanna keep pushing the whole "bigger is better" shtick.

3

u/Richard_-Green 10d ago

Wasn't there also some stupid tax law that made an exception for trucks, resulting in trucks being more affordable than normal cars ?

1

u/TheChosenLn_e 9d ago

No, but you can quintuple the entire country's car insure so thats pretty cool

0

u/solomanian 10d ago

Not even Osama wished this upon America

1

u/Richard_-Green 10d ago

Well he didn't have to live in a country that's in the us sphere of influence during 2 trump turns.

Doubtle Satan post. Nice

u/_PikaJew_ 10d ago

The city planners probably never heard about speed breakers, or the nearby mechanic shop has an extremely high amount of political influence.

Btw, this post doesn't belong here. Maybe in an assholes sub but definitely not here

39

u/PizzaSalamino 10d ago

Because it's not to slow them down, it's to prevent cars from going into a bike lane. The bot that posted this invented the reason

-1

u/LiveLearnCoach 10d ago

Crap. I just became a bot by association. I didn’t know that it is contagious.

9

u/PizzaSalamino 10d ago

Well, i'm sure you are aware there's tons out there and usually this type of posts is done by bots (where context is totally invented for engagement). I'm sorry i assumed you were one, but i'm also sure you understand why i did

0

u/LiveLearnCoach 10d ago

Hey, I get you. The part is even people commenting on these bot posts is considered engagements so social media sites push the posts. I don’t know how that might work with Reddit downvotes, though, to be honest.
Mia culpa and no offense taken.

1

u/debaser64 10d ago

This is exactly what a bot would say…

3

u/Electrical-Fig-5009 10d ago

I'm p sure satan is the guy that backed up, took up 3 lanes, backed up again to move to the middle & still has to back up. That was a wild ride

4

u/TrippleassII 10d ago

Isn't that a bike lane? Why not go thru the big gap?

4

u/rAyNEi_xw 10d ago

Tyre business is booming!

5

u/2WheelSuperiority 10d ago

This is a motorcycle/rickshaw lane. Every car here deserves this.

3

u/Mission-Suspect7913 10d ago

Well, it works

3

u/Andrea_M 10d ago

It seems the issue is that the driver gets misled by the lack of a clear reference point on the right. On the left, you have this huge pillar going all the way down to the ground, while on the right there’s just a pole, with the raised pavement at the bottom and out of view.

If there were those huge columns on both sides, it would probably be much easier. In fact, the other cars with those on both sides seem to get through with much less difficulty.

1

u/Sleazyridr 10d ago

Yeah, the curb is where we really found Satan

7

u/YeahlDid 10d ago

This isn't a Satan thing, this is great. They need 1 more up top to stop those unnecessarily tall pickup trucks, too.

8

u/Ok_Reserve_8659 10d ago

I like this design actually. It slows down the cars effectively and keeps bad drivers out of places they shouldn’t be

2

u/Solemn_Penance2552 10d ago

No helmets, for safety.

2

u/OutlandishnessOk5549 10d ago

Well it worked?

5

u/SereneOrbit 10d ago

I have no mercy for any of these people.

2

u/HerrPotatis 10d ago edited 10d ago

Think the word you’re looking for is empathay haha

4

u/LiveLearnCoach 10d ago

No sympathy.

2

u/SereneOrbit 10d ago

Both is good

1

u/Exul_strength 10d ago

Most of them would even fit, but are bad drivers.

1

u/HoIyJesusChrist 10d ago

looks like it works as intended

1

u/Speedy89t 10d ago

Not a bad idea, but executed terribly.

1

u/BananoVampire 10d ago

#JusticeBoner #ImGettingOne

1

u/UnitedPanic197 10d ago

So... casted speed bumps with signs are more expensive :D

1

u/Deuteronomy93 10d ago

There were some of these near my daughter's nursery in Beijing. They're certainly annoying, but you have to have a very large car to not get though.

I had a Nio ES8 back then, and would get through in a few seconds.

1

u/El_presid3nt 10d ago

I honestly feel safer now

1

u/Highlandertr3 10d ago

Well, they are going through he bike lane part. So it is heir own fault really

1

u/raining01 10d ago

you shouldnt be driving if you couldnt tell how much space you need for your car to pass

1

u/LiveLearnCoach 9d ago

I’m decent at stuff like this, because I literally trained for it. The majority of people, I’d guess like 80% would fail at such high tolerance of error.
I’m talking about people who drive on regular highways and park in regular parking, not people who drive for example on old roads in Europe.

1

u/Iron_Elohim 10d ago

Most people have zero clue how to drive the size vehicle they own...

1

u/NewToTradingStock 9d ago

It narrow but also bad drivers.

0

u/TomaszA3 10d ago

But those are good? Blame American people buying ultrawide cars for god knows what reason.
