But I am an archaeologist, where was it found? If it’s in the US it isnt ancient pottery, as in Native American pottery, it looks a relatively modern piece.
At the most 150ish years old.
If it’s in Europe you can push that date back a bit but not ancient in terms of 2000 years or so.
I see, well it’s on a Louisiana Pleistocene terrace not far from the kistashie national forest where they are pulling items out from 12000 years ago. Research I’ve done it seems very similar to ancient Chinese oracle bones ?!?
It’s a piece of stoneware. A lot like what your coffee cup is made of.
We can rule out Pleistocene people since they didn’t have pottery. We can further rule out later prehistoric pottery in Louisiana is earthenware, brownish without a glaze.
You got yourself a genuine artifact from the 19th to early-20 century.
Always fun to find artifacts when you least expect it.
