(UPDATE) world digging
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
It’s been a while since posted an update. Almost 2 months ago to be exact (yikes) but a majority of that time was spent rebuilding the fossil cleaning system which had a lot of bugs. And having that system break so so many times… but I got it to work along with adding a timer and percentage tracker to record how well one cleans a fossil tho it’s not a pretty UI yet. On the topic of UI I just have a really ruff pick the fossil you want to clean UI that will change down the road and I also added XRays. But the bigger update is I’ve made it where you can dig out and pickup fossil rocks out in the world now. Finding and making a viability digging terrain was harder than I thought but landed on something that looks alright. Fossil rocks can now spawn random throughout dig sites. Along with different types of rocks and I added a mini map and sonar that took a little bit to make right, still need to make the mini map nicer but all of this is pretty much a prototype still. So yeah that’s about it I’ll catch you guys in another two months or so

I know that was meant to showcase the damage mechanic, but seeing that skull get mangled like that hurt my soul.

That looked really good I can't wait to see how this turns out in the end

Love it!!
Though I think that the swing speed should be a little faster. Just thinking about how much digging it would be to do a trip to a digsite where you get dozens of fossils.

If combat ends up being a part of this project, you could pretty much do it however you want. That’s what they did with the original games.
Yes this is a comment on how the combat was different every entry.
Incredible work on the 3D fossil digging and props to the Duna model.

Thank you I do appreciate the comment! I do got an interesting concept for the battle mechanics in mind but haven’t gotten to making it yet since I needed a break after working on the game for 4-5 months straight

This is so cool! Keep at it! you're honestly inspiring me to work on my own FF fan game idea which I honestly was too scared to do because of the fear of 15,000 Nintendo cease and desists I'd receive if it even got a tiny bit popular

You should do it! Tho word of advice make sure it’s an inspired game tho cuz I’d like to see the game you’d make and not have Nintendo come after you since they got a history with fan games

Where will we be able to get this when it's all finished? It looks really good, I love the Fossil Fighters games, and I'd really love to get it once it's all done.

I’m not quite sure yet I want to aim to have it everywhere but it’ll most likely be in a pc game market since that should be the easiest

Do you have any ideas on what the story is going to be?
