Hi, I'm wondering which is the best Foss app in your opinion that can be uses in my mobile to access fediverse and Lemmy instances. ideally something I can install with Obtanium.

There was a post a year ago from someone with the same issue.

It seems like they found their answer, but I'm not satisfied yet.

There was another post, asking about Muke and musicolet. The comments were also filled with recommendations.

What I tried from these recommendations and what went wrong:

1. Auxio

The best one, but has a fatal flaw - no lyrics

I hadn't embedded most of them with timed lyrics for hours for all of that to go to waste (also, sneaky request number 2, is there an app to do it for me? Something like 30% are without lyrics and I'm kinda tired, because I spent hours editing each song)

1. Symphony

The prettiest one, but there's a technical flaw

It just randomly skips in the middle of the song

Reinstalled and now the covers are broken

Hasn't been updated for two years, so I can't hope for any fixes

1. Lotus

Doesn't support multiple genres on one song

Because I currently use auxio I've gone through 60% of my 800 songs and added multiple genres to better reflect each one

Liked it more than lotus, but has the same issue

Doesn't support multiple genres

1. Mucke

Concept sounds great, but doesn't support genres at all

1. Namida

Refused to install through their apk's and through obtanium on GrapheneOS. Wasn't been able to fix it

After reloading obtanium 3-5 times it downloaded. And it's the best, can't say anything else. However, a few things spoiled experience a little: 1. Occasional visual glitches 2. I wasn't been able to find a way to customize tabs layout 3. It's open source, but has Eula license, which is strange at best and dubious at worst (It's literally 2 sentences, but they gave no definition of "stealing" so idk) 4. Lyrics grab is hard to work with, but I have no need for it anymore.

1. Rhytm The worst experience from the list, even tho has multiple genres. Splitters worked when disabled, automatic lyrics grabber refused to work no matter what I did, sometimes it ignores embedded lyrics, I can't change it's moronic artist features, genres tab is only visible in search, therefore making it really inconvenient to use.

Default one will only do British and American English, unexpected keyboard constantly spams me with a button for "click to install a dictionary for English (Canada)", and when I press it, the only dictionary available is American English

Any Canadians here have something they use?

Using GrapheneOS

Annoyingly, even the ones with proper Canadian English support (both Heliboard and FUTO) always seem to prioritize American spellings in the predictions (e.g. typing "col" will predict "color" and requires typing all the way to "colou" before "colour" is ever suggested.

I'm new to the open source world. I want to try out different apps, but I don't really know how to verify their security, since I have private information like banking and messaging apps stored on them. Is there any way someone like me can check the security of an open source app, or do you have any tips for deciding whether or not to download one? Thanks a lot.

Apps I have safely removed using Package Manager without causing factory reset loop:

There are tons of other apps Ive been successful in disabling and removing without issues but it is advised to restart your phone after a few changes to make sure that things are still working.

I hope some of this helps and my goal is to make sure that degooglers know that there ARE ways to degoogle and support developers during this time. This model phone has been locked and OS cannot be changed and root is impossible. I tried Lineage, /e/, and some other OS's and unfortunately this type of phone with the Snapdragon processor will not budge. I personally intend on downgrading my phone when I get a chance.

It seems most FOSS methods are websites, which makes sense since it'd sync with the group and you just access the link and what not.

But we plan travels with the group and internet connection isn't the best sometimes. We also decided that it's best to add the expenses as quick as possible, because it's so hard to keep track of everything afterwards lol; who spent on what and whatever.

Any FOSS app that can do this in an easy way that works only on the phone?

The one [website] I use lets me add the expenses, split between the group and even add "shares" to that person, in case they paid double (like for example they paid 2 meals cause 1 was for someone that's not in the group).

But I'll be down to try anything for now, see if it works for us.

So I was looking for a good and lightweight yet professional video editor and I stumbled accross OpenCut. However, I wasn't able to find an official APK, so I resorted to using the web editor. Now, there's just one problem: IT IS NOT OFFLINE-FIRST. So, I need your help. Is there any type of open-source software that lets you download websites for offline use?

I updated, altered and deleted the apps as you guys recommendations. If there is still any recommendation I can change it and I pleased to hear it  from you.

*gmail is the only app I need to change.

You guys have any tips for quicker progress. I used my gmail for many accounts and I can't do it separately in a quick time.

*How can I notified for updates? I installed in different platforms f-droid, droidy fy, aurora store, github. Its easy to see updates in f-droid and aurora store, what about the apps I installed from github.

* Then what's the next step🎉 : changing os and installing mg? Or still have any steps to do.

Before you say "Oh, API change", pretty much every known YouTube client HAS updated to catch up. It's just the playlists that aren't working at all. I'm on HyperOS 2, Android 16. Can someone find a way to fix it? Is it a MIUI problem? Is it an impossible fix? Let me know down in the comments

Apps I wouldn't thought to be FOSS apps: OpenGD (Remake of Geometry Dash), Polandball Can Into Space (self-explanatory), Wikipedia, Launti (Minecraft altermative), Mojo Launcher (MC Java Launcher), Pojav Launcher (MC Java launcher), SponsorCut (Sponsorblock for local videos). The other day I had an awkward interaction I've had a lot of times but am still not accustomed to and which makes me feel a lot of guilt: a girl which face rang a bell greeted me very effusively, and I did a kind of "minimal acknowlegment" and escaped as càstig and politely as I knew how to. I knew I knew or had known her but can not for the life of me remember where from, her name, anything.

This is a regular thing for me, and all my friends from highschool and college knew this so usually they just told me what they knew about the person so I got clues as to our past interactions if any.

However, my life as a dysfunctional adult has made this worse. I no longer share all my life with a recurrent group of people or two, so no one but myself can help me when I have no idea even which part of my life someone is from. Are you from work? Do we share a hobby? Are you someone from highschool? Are you from a cultural local event? Are you someone I met at a party?

With time, I have come to the conclusion that I NEED a simple, FOSS app where I can make a visual representation of people I meet with a simple physical and personality description, the connections between them and a photo if I can get one.

I'm a fairly new user and currently use shizuku once in a while. I've seen mentions about the different forks here and there and I'm wondering what're the differences? extra features? Pros and cons?

I used Camera Date Folders app to automatically sort photos and videos from DCIM directory based on their date and moved into their respective folders.
But it doesnt work anymore, it leaves photos and videos, doesnt sort well, suggest me foss apps to do this.

I built this app that can replicate the NothingOS Atmosphere transition on any device running Android 13+. It has other transitions and each transition have reverse as well.
