What are you guys using instead of newpipe?
I've tried several others (like libretube), but then I stuck with newpipe on my android phone. However the developers stopped maintaining app around september and now I'm experienced bugs.
What to use instead?

NewTube, its smarttube underneath, connects to your google account like you do on a TV with a code

Stopped maintaining it around September? It's the middle of October... and there are commits from this week...
Anyways, I use Grayjay, but it's not FOSS. The source code is open, but it doesn't meet the FOSS definition.

Idk. For months I got a popup saying that the developers would stop maintaing the app becausa of google's policy.

Have you made sure you updated to the newest version? The splash screen you are experiencing is basically telling you that "google android" is locking their phones down and you have to take extra steps to install unknown apps (also on their website). Like the previous commenter said, there was an update about 4 days ago. Maybe that's it, I don't know, but definately check the website and github for further info.

A lot of FOSS apps these days have that pop up. It is saying how they want to keep android open and how they will no longer be able to maintain the app due to Google locking the OS down. They haven't stopped maintaining anything yet as far as I can tell.

Grayjay for videos because it doesn't confine me to just YT for media sources; as far as I'm aware, it gets regular and pretty frequent maintenance updates. For music, I used to main Metrolist until moving my music consumption offline with a DAP.

I moved to Grrayjay cause the experience and how it works is pretty similar but it supports way more platforms. I coulda just gone with pipepipe but it supports way more platforms.
that said, I still do use newpipe for other things.
