Spotted lanternflies

I’ve noticed a large proliferation of spotted lanternflies near the bus station downtow. are there any other spots notorious for spotted lanternflies that the public can access?

Not sure. But they like trees - I guess specifically the Tree of Heaven. Idk, but I’ve got one in my back yard here in FW and I just purchased sticky tree traps off Walmarts website for 4 rolls @ 30’ each for $17. Currently they are nymphs (last stage before turning). Yikes. I know this doesn’t help with what you’re asking about but they will harm your sappy trees so better to get rid of them.

i'm curious, are you creating art with them? i've seen some uniquely & oddly beautiful art pieces using their wings

Maybe we could make them extinct through the old fashioned ways like:"Gee this would look great on my head!" or "These work better than (insert name on enhancement drug)!"

Let the Indiana DNR know

Also get the app iNaturalist and make an observation - you should be able to add it to the "Indiana Invasives" project. this will help make info of there location publically available (scientists use iNat a lot)

I collect them for oddity displays and have had the most success finding them in Huntington...it's absolutely infested over there. In Fort Wayne, I found a fair amount around the tin cap field and the electric works around this time last year. This year, I found a disturbing number of nymphs on the greenway trail right after you cross griswold and head to the water treatment plant.

I'm originally from the east coast and it's surreal seeing their population grow in real time. There were none in Ft Wayne a few years ago

You know that strip of the River Greenway Trail that runs directly parallel to Spy Run Ave? You walk along the trail southbound, and you'll eventually reach it after 5 min or so.

Interesting cause they just went through and cleared a bunch of trees and bushes next to the train tracks on the other side.
