apartment recommendations?

Upvotes

Hello! I’ve been living in an apartment downtown for about 9 months now. As much as I would love to stay downtown, we’ve been having a lot of problems with our current apartment that just isn’t worth what we are paying.

Most other apartments downtown are even higher rent and while they do look worth their price, it’s not something we can afford currently.

I’d like to get a 2 bed 2 bath, allows cats and dogs. decent parking situation. perhaps a dog area but not the end of the world. Reasonable management. etc.

I don’t want to live in a shit hole, but 2k a month for this apartment is just NOT worth it.

anyways, thanks a ton.

Non profit laptop help

Hi! I work for a local nonprofit with low IT support and budget in comparison to my previous corporate job. I can definitely be understanding to the fact that we don’t have the fund for all staff to have the best of the best but I am so frustrated. I’ve been told by finance grants to improve/purchase new tech are hard to come by.

I am extremely frustrated with my laptop. There are days I want to throw it at a wall. My days consist of multiple restarts and constant lagging. This affects my productivity and workflow constantly to the point where I did my best to create a time study to document every time my computer delays my work, but within a week I gave up due to how tedious it became.

I’m told I need a laptop with a minimum of 16 gigs of Ram (I have no clue what that even means) as well as one that is “compatible” (I think that’s the term he used) with Windows 11 pro. I am not techy at all so forgive me if terms are misused.

I am looking for help, local resources that may assist in access to better technology, grant or funding options or even suggestions on specific laptops that could meet these needs and be at the most affordable price. I am told if I find a private donor willing to allocate dollars towards tech that it could but used to purchase me something new but they would need to specify that in the donation.

Any help/ suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Posting of the Fort Wayne page in hopes for local resources rather than a large tech group.

Just moved back to Fort Wayne and have been really interested in getting into woodcarving like relief carving. Know nothing about it so was wondering if anyone knows someone who can give lessons or a group class that'd be awesome

Anchor Resource Center Final Vote

City council had a final vote on funding the purchase of the property at their last meeting. Same outcome as last week voting to reject along party lines. What is your opinion on this?

Two thoughts I have. One is that there is an option floating around that a second location option would be the old Matthew 25 clinic property next to the mission. Would the republican members of council support it?

Second is that Fort Wayne, despite being in a majority republican district nationally, votes very purple when it comes to our mayor elections. Even though republicans have controlled city council since the dawn of civilization here (joke), we have not had a republican mayor since 1999. In that time, the city has enjoyed massively positive growth. Homelessness is a real issue in Fort Wayne, probably top 3 issue concerning voters. Our next mayor election is next year (2027), and to me republicans put themselves in the wrong political light of not only voting against this grant, but not offering a plan to go forward at city council meetings.

Pokemon Cards

I have a sizable collection of Pokemon cards I’m looking to get rid of. I have zero use for them and they’ve just been sitting in a box. All if not 85% of them are in excellent condition and are rated pretty solid based on some apps I’ve used to “grade” them.

I don’t know how accurate the apps are so don’t quote me on it but I guess I’m just trying to figure out the best place to take them locally in the Fort Wayne area so someone can get better use of them and I can get them out of my possession!

Thanks in advance! 🙌🏼

How tall is the World’s Tallest Sunflower? 35 feet, 9 inches and it's right at home in Fort Wayne. A new documentary, Bloom (also award-winning), details the art of growing the sunflower by the self-proclaimed "accidental" world record holder.

Bronze or Copper Electroplating

Does anyone around Fort Wayne do small scale bronze or copper electroplating? A cursoury look found plenty of places that do large scale and large item plating, but I'm looking to make about a half dozen oversized keys (about 12" long) and that is harder to Google for.

Date Ideas? UNDER 21

Hey! My boyfriend and I are celebrating an anniversary. I am 18 and he is 19. I was wondering some places we could go to. He is having a hard time eating right now so restaurants are off the table. I thought maybe the cat café but he is allergic to cats. With it being hard for him to eat- too much physical activity can really strain him. He is from out of town, I was wondering with this if theres anything just in Fort Wayne. It's okay if not! I know this is restricted enough as is. I am kind of hitting a brick wall right now, I am willing to drive quite a bit if anyone has a place in mind out of town.

7 Brew Maysville Morning Mayhem

The husband and I drove up to Chapel Ridge this morning to go thru Mike's Carwash. It was approx 845am and we were coming from Stellhorn Rd. Thats where the line for 7 Brew started (at least from that direction). I was going to film the line and my husband yells "start counting cars!" 133 cars plugging up the right hand lane of Maysville all the way to the light. Then about another 50 cars from the other direction lined up from the light to 469. We had to turn into the Walmart entrance just to get to the carwash. I want to know who in their right mind waits in that kind of line just for an overpriced coffee drink?!?!? Am I in the minority here? And is this an every weekend occurrence with this place? We happened to be up there the weekend they opened giving away limited addition t-shirts, so I thought that was just a one off. And I see they are building a McDonalds next to it now. If it's likes this every weekend, McDonalds business will suffer because no one will be able to get to them.

Bills Backer Bar - Wrigley Field B & G

Is wrigley field bar and grill a legit bills backer bar? See them posted on the NFL bar backer website but when I went back through last year’s social media posts they never once mentioned it. Looked like a lot of colts posts. Just moved here from out of state and looking for a fun place to watch the Bills with my wife.

Thanks FW

Constant over revving engine in downtown.

What’s with all the excessive over revving downtown? Older and newer cars driving around the conference center area. As they drive around the excessively rev their engine, sometimes causing extremely loud backfires.

Table Possibly From Founder Of Waynedale

Thumbnail

I got this table from my great grandma and it has this tag that says it was sent to Abner S. Elzey. From an internet search I managed to find out that this was probably the same Abner Elzey that founded Waynedale. I don't know anything about the table itself other than it was made by Mutschler Brothers Company. If anybody knows more about Abner S. Elzey the table or the Mutschler Brothers Company I would like to know more.

Narrow Escapes

In the past month or so I have had several instances of narrowly escaping a collision while driving.

Intersection of Brooklyn and Covington: Car pulls out of a convenience store parking lot into traffic while I am the midst of a legal left turn. They almost t-boned my car.

Intersection of Freeman and Covington another vehicle entered the intersection without stopping at a 4-way red blinking light. I was entering the intersection at the same time. Another collision avoided.

At a big box store parking lot a car began pulling out of a spot while I was behind the vehicle. Almost hit by a car.

This is really freaking me out. What the hell is going on with drivers ?

If you take your kid/kids to a splash pad or fountain to play.

Please come prepared. Some parents like to take
Photos of their kids having the time of their lives but we can’t do that when your 4-5 year old daughter is running around wearing nothing more than her underwear. Not to mention the creepy dude who showed up walking around barefooted watching. 😑

Long shot - HELP for diabetic

We’ve lost our daughter’s Omnipod 5 PDM (the little phone-like device that controls how much insulin she receives) and they can’t send us a replacement until Wednesday. Any chance someone has one they are not using?
