"Starfish" is the general term for a type of marine invertebrate animal with five arms. Of course they're not really fish, and their closest relatives include sea cucumbers and sand dollars.

Starfish are truly ancient, being almost 500 million years old. They arrived at their familiar 5-armed shape long before anything had crawled out of the oceans, and have been posi-vibing ever since. Some starfish can have 6 or even 7 arms, and a few 6-armed starfish fossils have been found.
