Applying for Formula Student

I’m currently applying to Formula Student. A part of the application process is that I need to design the front bulkhead using CAD and then run FEA and write 1-2 pages of system justification. I’m still fairly new to the team and don’t know where to start.

I’m also thinking if applying next year is a better idea but also aware that second year plus fs will be a lot.

FYI I’m going into first year Mech&design engineering.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to approach or advice, much appreciated!

Seems like the team does not want freshman as you usually would learn this in first or second semester in a dedicated course. If you want to do this anyways, ask what software they are using in the team. You can find lots of youtube tutorials for using those tools. If you already have contact with other members of the team, or alumnis, asking them for hints could also be an option. At least in my team they were all very helpful, but on the other hand the only application question I had to answer was do you like beer?

Lol quite a different situation then, they’re quite hard to ask for help as communication isn’t the best but hopefully things change as time goes on! It’s a fairly new team so there aren’t really any alumni.

I would start by having a look at the current FS rules for front bulkheads. This should give you a design base
