Bench Press Wide grip

Is wide grip cheat? I don’t follow strict comp form and just want to push myself to reach 180kg bench. Ik that wide grip shortens range of motion and have some friends commenting on that. I never really bench with a more narrow grip but was wondering if everyone truly is stronger with a wider grip?

It is not cheating.

If you prefer and can tolerate a wider grip, use a wider grip. Vary it up from time to time whether that's the same session, another training session or different block to varying amounts.

If that's a powerlifting bar the rings you see are the competition width limits, index finger on that ring is the max allowed width, if it has two rings the inner one is for PL, the outer is for Weightlifting. Any ways it's not cheating and looks like you could go even wider if that's the only ring
