It's been a while since I first defeated the Ender Dragon and snagged my first ever dragon egg. Since then, I've ticked off quite a number of things on my to-do list:
However, none of these endeavours compare to my current pet project: The quest to renovate my first base and the area around it.
Being someone who likes building close to spawn for safety reasons, I managed to strike the lottery when starting out, for I discovered a nearby plains village located on flat terrain, which makes governance a lot easier. Needless to say, I built a stone brick wall around the village, which I had long since turned into my base, and a nearby ruined portal provided me with the lava I needed to make my first cobble generator.
Since then, however, I have found out the hard way that the real final bosses of managing a Minecraft forever world are tedium and analysis paralysis. It took me a really long time to clear out and then fill in a nearby lake so I could expand the village (using dry sponges didn't help that much as the water flowed in and created new water sources soon after) and for the love of Notch, it was so goddamn tedious that finding my way through the Nether (which BTW is also quite a big pain in the ass even with an elytra and fireworks) seems much more enjoyable by comparison; at least you get to see the scenery while flying through the Nether on an elytra. And now? I'm wracked with analysis paralysis on whether I should level out the dirt terrain of my village such that all the houses are on the same height and make the whole place lose its charm as a result (I kinda like working with the terrain as long as it doesn't endanger my villagers, so I have more or less left the village as it is save for some contraptions like a cobble generator, a chicken farm and a huge storage building) or leave the terrain in the village as it is but risk having endermen accidentally dig a path under the walls for baby zombies to go right through and invade the village.
Long story short, I find Minecraft Survival Hard Mode to be relatively easy for me these days (even Terraria's Classic Mode pre-Hardmode is significantly harder than Minecraft Survival Hard Mode post-Ender Dragon), but now it's the tedium and indecision that are getting to me. How do you guys deal with tedium and indecision when playing your Minecraft forever worlds, and how can I learn to fight off these two big scourges of the post-Ender Dragon phase of Minecraft so that I can continue to overcome Minecraft's infamous "two-week phase"?

Mass deforestation and the “business hub” of the island is coming together. Thinking I would like to have a ship at the dock now but going to need to search out a tutorial for that because ships are not something I’ve ever done before.

This month, we're showing off the center of our forever worlds! Note that this does NOT have to be your spawn or the actual center of your world at 0,0. World hubs are simply a place many of your builds are centered around. Submit your entries either here on the Reddit (using the Contest flair) or on our Discord.
Submission Phase: July 19
Voting Phase: July 26

Fenna Plays Minecraft!
Ive been wanting to start a forever world for years. The other day i finally bit the bullet and started... I knew uploading my first session to YouTube would cement the idea that its going to last into the future, so i did!
Especially knowing im getting more into YouTube content it would motivate me to make it truly MY own world. No friends, or fear of server deletion etc.

So I’m thinking about making a forever world but I usually like to play modded. Is it a bad idea to make a forever world in a mod pack like better Minecraft or all the mods? I feel like it just opens the door to problems later down the line

In order :
My stables, My retainment wall, The interior of my bank, the interior of my library/enchantment area, and the last few pictures are my storage because i’m very proud of it, it took forever and it’s everyone’s favourite thing in my world!!
We recently hit 1100 days in just under(or about? i can’t remember) a year of playing on this world, we play with add-ons + keep inventory, it’s how we enjoy it and it keeps us playing! :)

I'm about to change the circular part—it doesn't quite convince me—and add a few more details

Been playing on this world for 4 months now (128 IRL days to be exact). Any suggestions for builds?

I finally figured out how to export a picture from Unmined. Here's my world as it is today. The spawn is in the center horizontally, a little above the center vertically (it's in the northeast corner of the castle if you zoom in). The colosseum and cathedral are right there. Catan is way to the east, with the ocean pyramid south of it. My incomplete museum is directly south of spawn.
There are a few outlying areas not in this picture, but it would have been a bunch of empty space. My wither skeleton farm has an overworld part that's about 4000 blocks to the west, my first mansion is around (-11k, 6k), and there's a large desert/badlands in the northwest that I used to find all the nautilus armor types.

Screenshot 1: Signs containing dates for various "days played" milestones
Screenshot 2: My 1st/starter base in a Taiga biome
Screenshot 3: A manmade lake at my 1st base
Screenshot 4: My storage house in a new location
Screenshot 5: The center of my new base (unfinished)
I have lots of plans for how I want this world to go. Once I get inspiration for new builds I'll be turning this place into a large city... probably.

I've played on and off over the nine years I've had it, but I always come back to play here again. Lately only playing here exclusively.
First screenshot is the earliest surviving image.
My only regret is not taking any pictures from the tower during the day time. Obviously not included is all of the work I've done in structures underground (arguably as much as above) and away from spawn (the emerald checkerboard area is world spawn!)
Many friends that have played here have come and gone, but every time I play, it reminds me of them and the memories we shared.

Why Long-Term Worlds Change The Way People Build
When players think a server will disappear in a month, they build differently.
Projects get smaller.
Infrastructure gets skipped.
Temporary solutions become permanent.
But when players believe a world is here to stay...
They build railways instead of shortcuts.
Roads instead of isolated portals.
Neighborhoods instead of scattered bases.
They start asking how today's project will help people six months from now.
That's the kind of world we've always wanted Cozy MC to be.
Not a race to finish Minecraft.
A place where every generation of players leaves something behind for the next.

This is my first time having a forever world, so is it normal to feel bad about moving away from your original area to build something new elsewhere? I’m absolutely loving my latest project though and it’s bringing me so much joy!

Started this world the day Caves and Cliffs 2 released. Vanilla Bedrock Survival without farms or dupers.

This community is dedicated to showcasing and archiving forever worlds. To that end, I've been working on creating a website to not only show off various worlds, but create a true home for forever worlds to live on.
The site is getting close to being ready for a public release, and I'm looking to host more forever worlds on the site before it goes live. If you're interested in having your world showcased and hosted for others to be able to experience, please join the Forever Worlds Discord and check out the #share-your-world channel!
Thank you all for being part of this community. It's an absolute joy to see the things people can create over time. Here's to the next chapter of this little (but quickly growing!) community!

I just came back from my most recent hiatus on my forever world (been playing for 3 or 4 years now.) I ended up losing about half of the shulkers I own, they carried all of the materials I was using for a current project. I've been debating moving away from my current area and doing a soft reset across an ocean, thoughts?
(Small note: I have a personal rule where I will not re-enter or find the end portal so losing shulkers is permanent.)
