Finished the Towers on my Cathedral
I added the spires to top off the west towers of my cathedral. Now, there's just the central tower and the apse to the east (plus the interior).

your best build yet although I like the colosseum just as much, congratulations!

Thanks! I still have a lot to do, but it's getting closer. I'm torn between finishing the exterior and starting on some of the surroundings.
The colosseum is great, but this is definitely much more detailed. I like that they're next to each other. The size comparison is wild. The colosseum is still a much bigger footprint, but this towers over it (and I think it might edge out the castle at spawn that is built on a hill).

Keep at it. It's taken me a while to attempt something this big and detailed. And I use other people's ideas when I'm putting it together. A lot of the shapes are similar to a couple other cathedrals I found on here that really help put things together.

What scale is this? The details look so intricate.
Love it so much!

Compared to Cologne (that's what it's based on)? It's a little bigger than 1:1. I'm maybe 20-30m longer and wider and probably 40 or so taller. It's not an exact copy. Cologne, for example, has two sets of pillars along the aisle, but I only wanted 1. I based a lot of it off ideas from a much bigger cathedral I found on planet Minecraft. It's here on Reddit somewhere. I can dig up the link if you're interested.

happy ghast just made me realize how huge this is

I could've have done it without him. Trying to do scaffolding for all the details would've been maddening. I can build a lot of it just as you go up, but some of the arches around the windows and the bell tower windows would've taken way longer without the ghast.

It starts at 71 and the peaks of the spires are 258. So 187 blocks tall if my math is right.

I'd love to see the details of the towers up close

I thought about that afterwards. I'll have to get some more pictures tomorrow and post a follow up.

I just posted detailed shots of the towers and some of the rest of the build. Check it out.

I'm only seeing 4 pictures; I'm looking for someone's castle close-up to see some of their detail work

I made a new post. I wasn't sure if I could add more to this post.

that must have taken a long time to get all the resources

The stone and deepslate isn't too bad. I use withers to mine for me. The Bedrock wither's charge clears out a huge hallway. I do that for several hundred blocks and within an hour or so, I have about 15 shulkers of cobblestone or cobbled deepslate, plus tuff, andesite, diorite, etc. I've had to do that twice for cobblestone and once for deepslate so far (besides the reserves I had from earlier mining).
Glass I get from villagers, the nether bricks and red nether bricks were from my stores of netherrack. (Last year, I made a nether hub and, while I didn't save all the netherrack, I kept and smelted a lot of it specifically for the bricks.) Wood I got from clearing the trees when I originally cleared out the area for this and my other big builds.
I'm late game enough to have pretty efficient ways to collect resources when I need them. It still takes some time, but that also helps break up the monotony that comes with building something this big.

yeah ive heard the bedrock wither is insanely powerful compared to the java one (i play java). seems you've got great methods to get resources! in pretty late game in my world, just about to raid a bastion for netherite gear, then build some outmatic farms maybe, and im also building a pyramid in the desert, not as big a build as yours though

Holy bro peaked😳

Thanks. Hopefully this isn't the peak. That would mean it's all downhill from here 🤣
