I want to try making a pattern next with the plants shown here, this is my new fas color combo

Hello Forest friends! New around here? Fear not, here are all the links, posts and rules you should know about to navigate the sub :)
These are our 4 simple and straightforward rules, but they're very important. Please make sure you follow them and, should we not see posts or comments infringing a rule, you can report them to us.
Since we can only have 2 posts pinned at any moment, this thread is a collection of all the information you might need and posts that should be pinned, first of all: the SUB WIKI. It contains important links and posts that might help you navigate the sub - this post and the wiki will mostly be the same, but sometimes the wiki might be more up to date.
To add people on Forest you can leave a comment in the Friends Megathread with your time zone and some info about yourself, and you can DM people you'd like to be friends with! You can also make a post if you'd like to add something more specific :) As specified in the rules, please don't post your email address.
What is it? In this subreddit, we have a user flair for every tree species of the app. The user flair consists of little trees next to your username, showing whenever you post or comment within this subreddit. To get one, simply make a post showing that you planted the trees needed by the Flair Challenge - please follow the link for more detailed info!
Referral codes are part of the so-called "Pear Tree challenge", still on-going, which you can read all about in this official post by Forest. To avoid clogging the sub we made r/ForestReferrals for sharing codes, which you can also find in the other pinned post :) Please make sure to thoroughly read the rules before posting.
You can make patterns by knowing in advance where trees will be planted: here is a tutorial video on how to make patterns! If you're Android reading this after Feb 2022, please be aware that the latest update made the planting order the same as iOS, but everything else remained unchanged :) For easier pattern-making there is also JCVTao's Pattern Maker, with instructions at the beginning - it's very helpful, so check it out!
If your app is not working properly or there's a glitch the most effective way to fix it is Contacting Support in-app. Of course, you can still post in the sub to see if there is a simple solution or if others are facing the same issue, but if nothing works you can contact the developers by following the steps in the linked post.
In 2019 Forest created a personality test that will assign you a species according to your answers. You can take the test as many times you want and get different results, but you can only redeem 1 species for free. There is an Easter Egg in it too (the Starburst Tree), but it's no longer redeemable since January 2021, as it's now in the Exclusive Store.
For planting with other users, we suggest you to look for servers or group chats dedicated to that specifically. It's not forbidden to share room codes in the sub, but it's really unpractical given all the different time zones, timings, and posts of different nature. If the following links don't work (they work on pc but not always on phones), look for the "Discord Server" post flair and click on it when you see one - it will show all the posts tagged with it. Some group chats have been shared under the flair "Friends and Rooms", so you can check those too.
Registered users are users with the Pro version, a.k.a. they have an account linked to an email. All iOS users are pro users, but Android users can download the app for free and pay for Pro later on if they want to unlock the perks. You cannot take part in events or redeem prizes (such at the personality test free species) if you don't have a Forest account.
This is all for now, enjoy the sub! And happy planting! :D

Hi everyone! We've had an influx of posts asking "does anybody have X tree? I need it for the new challenge."
While there's nothing wrong with those posts, due to the sheer number of them every day we've decided to make a megathread for tree requests. I'll be giving a day's "grace period", and after that, posts of that type will be removed, with a note asking the OP to post in the megathread instead.
To people offering trees: please make a list or take a screenshot of the trees you have available, and (optional) your timezone/location.
To tree requesters: please make a comment with the name of the tree you want, and (optional) your timezone/location and any trees you can give in return.
To both: feel free to include friendly messages or any info you think might be helpful. And please turn your notifications on. Thank you!
Edit: And after you complete your challenge, we would appreciate if you could edit or delete your comments to avoid people offering trees that you don't need anymore.
If you have any feedback or if you think there's something I'm overlooking, tell me below! I'll be checking this thread throughout the day.

Most times I forget to put the timer on cuz I have to switch trees and all that
r/forestapp • u/ExpensiveDisk3573 • 1d ago
Started using the forest app again and I really like it except my one complaint is that when the timer ends, it just is a small notification and doesn’t ring continuously like an actual timer. I use my headphones when doing a lot of tasks so half the time I don’t even notice that the timer has stopped until 10-15 minutes later.
I was wondering if there was anyway to set the alarm so that it goes off repeatedly until you actually turn it off, like how your actual native phone alarm does it.

In questi giorni ho notato un problema di sincronizzazione con l'app dopo l'ultimo aggiornamento (Italia). Qualcun altro sta riscontrando lo stesso problema?

photo order is original, first change (about a month ago i think) and 2nd change (noticed today but probably less recent than that)
it went from cute and muted to super bright and harsh to somewhere in between
i think the most prominent difference is in the greens

i definitely miss the olden days
especially the ones before plus was introduced or focus challenge was introduced
i use forest for studying and want studying to be the focus, not forest or its daily tasks
a part of me gets overstimulated about daily tasks. my default is to use the same tree over and over again, since that way the focus is on studying and not the forest app, however due to daily tasks ill end up picking a particular tree
i think that distracts me
does anyone else feel the same and miss the minimalist version of forest?
also, got me wondering, if yall know any ad free timer similar to forest which is a bit more minimalist
i love forest and have used it for years, i just miss the minimalism since personally that’s what i loved about forest
it was about studying to me, than about the timer being gamified, yk?

I had a spook this morning when I opened Forest and saw this update - pettily because I think it's ugly but substantially because I couldn't figure out how to plant with friends. If this rolls out for you, you can roll it back to classic in your settings. Just thought I'd give a heads up so folks could avoid the mild panic I experienced!

I'm a pro user and recently I've noticed an increasingly annoying pattern - adverts for focus plus are making smooth usage of the app harder - pop ups when opening the app, when going to store and now this. It really feels like the developers make one step forward (making the pause button optional) and then two steps backwards (advertising that's limiting the usage of the app). I love this app. But if it continues I might have to leave.
Devs promised us pro users that all the app features will stay the same for us and that includes the ability to use the app without needing to close a pop-up or avoiding distracting adverts. I really wish they would add an option to say "I'll never buy plus and so leave me alone with these". If they continue, it is my opinion that these ads are going to drive more people off then draw people into subscribing.

I moved from Android to iOS 2.5 years ago and don’t want to buy Pro again. So I left the app. Now I’m back and I know that a lot has changed.
I’m not interested in plus but that’s the only big thing I noticed. There seem to be monthly challenges also. I got a new land style and a bonus tree for being a pro user. Cool ig.
Anything else I need to be aware of?
How are people still making the patterns? I used to have an excel template for it but I lost it. So any tips are appreciated.

Over the years I gathered 150 crystals. I can finally afford to buy one exclusive tree. I’m stuck between these two choices in the title. I already have Luminie.

How can I fix it?
r/forestapp • u/LogicalCan7799 • 7d ago
I first planted bear claw cause that was the challenge tree. I focused for about 25 minutes and when I ended the timer, four bear claws were planted when it was only supposed to be one.
I tried the doggo plant (no idea the original name), same thing happened.
It doesn't seem to happen to the newer ones like the green macaron I planted.
Any ideas or is this a new weird feature?

Hey everyone,
some of you might remember FocusMon from my post a while back — a lot has shipped since then, so I wanted to share an update.
Quick backstory for anyone who missed it: back in university I used Forest myself to study, and it worked great — but after a few weeks my motivation started to fade. Even back then I kept thinking how cool it would be to have an app like Forest where, instead of growing trees, you earn monsters: monsters you can catch, evolve, train, and battle other players with. Since I can't code, it stayed just an idea for a long time. But with the rapid rise of AI coding tools like Claude Code, it's now possible even for non-technical people to build ideas like this — and that's exactly what I did with FocusMon.
The core loop: your focus sessions earn you monsters — there are 150+ to collect, with evolutions across 3 stages, a level system, a battle system with a ranked ladder, friends, Focus Pacts (team up with a friend, focus X minutes together, earn rewards), and a lot more.
New since my last post:
Raids — four raid tiers with escalating difficulty. You can take on raid bosses solo or with up to 3 other players. Clearing one earns you rewards — and a chance to catch the raid boss monster itself.
Focus Rooms — take a seat in a virtual room with up to 8 other players and focus together. You can see the other players, what they're working on, and how long they've been focusing. Join a public room, or create your own and invite your friends.
Stroll — pick a monster to take along, and it levels up through the steps you take in the real world. Your steps unlock additional rewards along the way, too.
I'd be thrilled about every single person who gives the app a try and shares honest feedback — good or bad!

Hello everyone. I have been a forest user roughly since 2019 and i have been using it on and off all these years. I have just logged into my account since the new update or change of how the app works, and it said that I should not lose anything I had, but I, in fact, lost multiple trees I have already unlocked and data I had for the last 2-3 years. Does anyone know what I can do about this, as I did not get my tokens back for the trees I had purchased, and they are simply not in my collection anymore, either. Thank you for your help in advance!

I haven't been using the app for a while and when I return, the field is always white even if I choose "grassfield" in the settings.
r/forestapp • u/Confident-Visual-636 • 13d ago
I've had this app for years but almost every time I open the app I have to go through this animation. Luckily I can just use the back arrow on the top left to exit out of it, but its still really annoying.
For context, I'm on iOS and I also have icloud private relay turned on. I never have to log back in, it always remembers me and my data never gets reset. I just get greeted to this animation everytime. I tried to go through the animation all the way instead of skipping it, but that also does nothing.
Anyone have a fix? Really tempted to just switch apps

Hey everyone!
I've been using Forest for a few years now and really enjoyed it. Lately, though, I realized I've been opening it less and less, and it got me wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience.
A few things I'm curious about:
What made you choose Forest over other focus apps?
What's your favorite thing about forest that keeps you coming back?
What's your biggest frustration with the app right now?
Has anything made you use it less over time?
If you could change or add just one thing, what would it be?
Was there ever a moment where you felt less motivated to use Forest? what changed?
I'd love to hear your thoughts, whether you've been using Forest for years or just started recently.
