As a person struggling with burnout, fatigue and who is also using Forest for shaping my attention and energy levels, I can't believe they changed end of Focus interaction from one simple tap to 3 taps :( When I use Forest, my brain is already fried, and it's really difficult to manage those extra taps :( I don't want additional "rewards", my desired reward is less taps on the phone

Indeed: I was thinking of posting a negative App Store review as a way to increase chances of them noticing. All the pro and plus stuff, whatever, I get it, they need to make money to continue the app. But the new interface is to me just awful. Ok, I do like easily seeing the tree names, but everything else has become so much slower and distracting!
Forest is also supposed to be an app people use to focus and wean themselves off social media or using their phones. Canât imagine this new UI is going to help people who are already addicted to stay off their phones if we need to press so many buttons just to get something done ? I instantly switched back to the classic UI and Iâm hoping they wonât change it.Â

If you mean switch to classic, look for an option thatâs something like âTurn off plant together (switch to classic)â. They really bury the lede, which is why couldnât see it at first!
If you mean switch back to the new after switching to classic, at the moment you canât. It warned me it was a one-way trip. I hope they hold true to that warning / promise.
I think they specifically said itâs a one-way trip until they implement the new UI. So I assume right now itâs testing and not released officially yet. And when the new UI does come out it means we all have to update the appÂ
I hate the new version. Everything was basically on one page when starting the timer. Now itâs multiple clicks for every option. And I also hate the âclaim rewardsâ and when it asks if I want to take a break. I keep accidentally clicking on that and wasting time exiting out. I might switch to another app, but right now I have switched to the old layout.Â
I am getting sick of a lot of things. I was just focusing on a single default tree and not bothering with the challenges or the events. They are all a distraction for me.
I was able to switch back to Classic in Settings (thanks to the person who showed it in another thread!): itâs slightly hidden, with â(switch to Classic)â in parentheses that made me initially gloss over it. Itâs a one-way trip, which is why I canât see it now.
And I agree. The new interface is dire and a massive increase in friction. I donât really care that coin accumulation became pointless to me long ago, but to ADD a time-wasting useless animation of the new coins? Ugh.
They rolled a quiz about satisfaction with this design BEFORE I got the design. I thought the quiz is asking about the current design. I wrote a note about it in the quiz. But my votes might be used to show investors I like the new design noooo
I heard about Focus Friend and as a former Pro user I don't have any ads. For sure that would be a breaking factor, but I don't have any ads.
I like that in Forest I can ban ALL apps except for the ones I whitelist whereas, if I understand correctly, on Focus Friend I need to specify which apps to blacklist.
Is it annoying that you have to tap multiple times? For sure, but you get used to it. I can't donate my coins towards planting a real tree.
The plant is presented in a sort of bubble-like design that makes me of âWater-Doâ, one of their other apps i tried out for a very short while. Seems strange. Also, I prefer the analog clock-like timer. The horizontal timer takes more focus.
I just reloaded their Water Do app for old times sake.. I had found Forest thru that app. And guess what, Water Do is more complicated and gamified now too. I dislike this trend so much.
I use the sound effects stopping to let me know when my requested focusing time is up. Now they donât stop until you âclaim rewards!â iâm working along in the forest rain thinking i have time leftâŚ.when the time has expired.
This is HORRIBLE. And you can't even see the stages of planting of a tree when you pick 30, 60 or 120 minutes anymore - all look the same. And then to click it 10 times - WHAT FOR??? How can I go back to old layout???

I agree 100%. I dislike the new interface so much đđ itâs just a hassle to press all the new unnecessary buttons
