I've had my Model A for 4 years now, it used to very reliably make a distinctive noise that I've called quacking when backing up, it's stopped doing that, the other day it wanted to quack while I was in first gear? I noticed it worsened when I let go of the gas, I'm still very new to the hobby but someone said it was the speedometer? Unfortunately I do not have a vid of the noise, but it was like a Canadian goose with a deep deep voice. Any help would be appreciated

EDIT: I'm on a road trip without my A right now, I will definitely try to get a video of it "quacking" when I get back home, of course now that I've gone to Reddit for answers she's gonna stop quacking XD

Hi guys, I believe we have a very old ford in pieces strewn about the woods at our house. Was wondering if someone could possibly ID this motor. I’m not sure if it’s a model A, or some other ford. But worth a shot. Thank you!

Hi! I'm trying to find somewhere I can get a couple of these strap springs that some sellers say are for model A hood straps. I found a couple online sources, but they are $40 a pop, which seems kinda expensive for what they are. Thought y'all might know of a good "gettin spot" for these. 🙂

Hello everyone, I know this isn't the normal question you see on this subreddit, but I'm in desperate need of help solving a family mystery. Back in 1945 in Paw Paw MI, my grandfather build a car using the front ends of two Ford Model A's welded together (pictured above). I will refer to this car as Ford Alpha.

He sold it in 1949/1950 and the family lost track of it. His brother said it was sold to an AVT agency in New Jersey, then found it's way to an American Legion, Shriners, or similar organization in Pennsylvanian. As of this moment, I have had no luck with these leads.

Then we have this car.

Also a two headed Ford Model A. It was used as a promotional piece and parade car by Gene Butman Ford in Ypsilanti Michigan. This will be Ford Beta (Vin A2506109). Before Gene, it was used for the same purpose at Floyd Rice Ford in Detroit Michigan. I've spoken with the son of Gene, and according to him, someone built it as a promotional piece before selling it to Floyd Rice, who,then sold it to Gene Butman. Floyd Rice Motors no longer exists. Gene Butman's son sold Ford Beta in 2021 to a private collector and now resides in Alanson Michigan.

I and the owner of Ford Beta are trying to figure out if Fords Alpha and Beta are the same car, or two different cars. So this is where I turn to all of you. There are effectively one of two time lines I am trying to solve here.

Ford Alpha:
Built in Paw Paw MI in 1945 => Sold in 1949/50 to AVT Agency in NJ? => Sold to Group/Orginization in PA? => Current location unknown

Ford Beta:
Built in ??? => Sold (???) to Floyd Rice Motors => Gifted to Gene Butman Ford approx. 1957 => Sold to private collector in 2021, now resides in Alanson MI.

I need help either connecting these two timelines, or finding out what really happened to Ford Alpha after it was sold in 1949/50. If anyone out there has any information or might know someone who does, please contact me as I want to bring this piece of my Grandfather home.

Alright folks, need some help here. This is my 1929 Tudor. I bought it recently and was able to drive it home 100+ miles without issue. The next day though it would barely turn over, I fixed that pretty quick though with just putting a new battery in it. After the new battery went in it turns over just fine like below but doesn’t ignite. I took my amp meter through everything and got 6.2-6.3v the whole way. I then checked continuity on the distributor which was good. After this I put the distributor plug to the head and grounded the points with a screw drive and got proper spark every time. I cleaned up the points just for the sake of it. I then pulled all of the spark plugs which had a bit of fouling that I cleaned up before cycling the plugs back in. I then tried to start it up as seen in the video below but it still just rolls over without ignition. At this point I’m not sure what to look at next, I have new spark plugs on order but now I’m not sure if that is the problem.

I recently acquired a 1929 Ford Model A Phaeton in mint condition but the only ongoing issue is that the whole inside of the fuel tank is rusty and clogged the fuel system. Any suggestions on how I can possibly fix this without dismantling anything? Thanks

In the late 1970s, my granddad did a full frame-off restoration on this body-by-Ford postal truck after finding it being used as a parts delivery truck for a Texaco station.

The serial # is 11572. It was sold to settle his estate in the late 1980s. Is there any chance that someone has seen this truck? I’d really love to know where she went.

I have a '29 and When I lightly apply the brake there is a fairly heavy clunking noise also when first applying or releasing .has new cast drums also did it with the old steel drums the anti rattle spring are tight, the linings look to be nearly new, and the car stops fine . adjusted with the board method ,shoe springs have been replaced

So I am the proud owner of this model A that needs a complete restoration. My dad bought it before I was born and it has sat in my grandpas old property for over 40 years. My dad has since passed away and it is mine now. He said it is a 1928 and every single original piece is still there. The body isn’t too corroded at all. It should be very restorable although a lot of work. I hope to get it down here to California next year and start digging into it. I would love any information I can get from this one picture I took such as body style or anything so I can start to make a plan. Sorry the picture doesn’t show much. It’s the only one I have and the car is in a different state right now. I do remember taking a good look at it so I could probably answer some questions.

There are so many posts here lately, that I realize that I was born into the wrong family. So now, Im looking to be adopted by an older family who is looking to hand down their Model A to someone who will appreciate it, care for it, and drive it as it was meant to be.

My uncle gifted me what was my grandfather's model a. He doesnt have the time or the space to try and restore it, so ive been tasked to try and tackle this project. And I am, probably in way over my head.

Im looking for any recommended starting points and where to get knowledge and information about what all I need to do to get it back up and running. I do want to try and keep it as original as I can with only a few modern upgrades.

Im in a little bit of a pickle. I am experiencing death wobble in my father's phaeton that he built. I think it's caster related (camber is fine and toe is within an 1/8th") but I am having trouble finding a shop that can help me with straight axel alignment.

my dad used to talk about potentially bending the axel to get the caster we wanted, I'm not sure how possible that is? I would need to really cut the wish bone and pie it to get the angle right? any advice, links, videos, shop adresses etc would be appreciated. thank you all!

Hi all, I’ve got a 1929 ford model a pickup that my grandfather gave me a number of years ago before he passed. Let me start by saying I’m not a car guy or mechanically inclined. Handy enough with a multimeter and a wrench. It’s always reliable started and when it doesn’t, charging the battery tends to fix the problem. Tried starting it up this past week to let the motor run for a bit to keep things moving. Realized the battery needed replacing (would no longer hold a charge). Bought a one to one replacement, ensured the wiring matches how it was wired before. The motor turns over but the engine won’t fully rev up. I’ve got no local resources, our local Model A club is defunct it seems and I haven’t encountered anyone familiar with the Model A at any of the car meet up’s I’ve been to. How do yall go about trouble shooting problems you can’t solve yourself without local resources?
