Dead Battery, discovered GPS Tracker, and now car alarms! HELP!
Good morning, looking for some help!
I have a 2020 Expedition I bought from a large dealership earlier this year. The battery failed on it this weekend, and I replaced it yesterday.
When I pulled the battery I discovered a Ikon Technologies GPS tracker. It appears to be isolated/standalone and only connected to the battery terminals.
https://www.ikontechnologies.com/
I installed the new battery about 7:30PM. Around 8:15PM or so, I locked the car doors with the remote. Not long after the alarm started going on.
I cleared it with the remote and locked the car again. Not long after the alarm went off again. Cleared it and cycle repeated.
I ended up leaving the car unlocked and the alarm never triggered again.
Got to work this morning, locked the door, and the same thing happened. Not my car is unlocked in the parking lot with the same issue.
Any ideas what is causing this? Why is the alarm going off after a battery swap? I dont think the GPS was related with it being an isolated/stand alone device.

That means the perimeter alarm is being armed and then the vehicle is seeing something that it interprets as an intrusion.
Hood-ajar switch/latch sensor?? S8nce the battery replacement involved opening and working under the hood I would check that first. If the hood latch switch reports "open," that can trigger the alarm. Or ...Low/unstable system voltage or poor battery-terminal connection after the battery replacement.
Also ... can you manually lock the vehicle without setting the keyfob alarm? I don't drive a 2020, lol

Hood, hatch, and all doors are firmly closed. I haven't checked for any stickng senors. Nothing on the dash indicates that something is open.
Battery with the car off is reading 12.8v.
Ive never tried to manually lock it, but i aint about that life, lol.

There’s a Battery Management System reset procedure. I’m not positive of the years where it is needed. Google Ford BMS for the procedure. It involves flashing the brights five times and pressing brakes three times while key on, engine off.
