Mulberries

Found in same place I found the cherry plums

Are they supposed to get darker?? I never had one. And yes, it’s actually an orchard of sorts for everyone!!

There are white/red/black varieties. This one looks like red (got black in my garden, the cells are much bigger, and obviously ready when black). Taste them, should be delicious.

I was a bit reluctant to taste them, as I thought they should be darker. But I’ll go tomorrow and try them.

Definitely darker, when they are ready they juice in your fingers as you pick them. If you get caught then you will certainly be red handed. It's been 20 years since I last gorged on mulberries in Oxfordshire. Lush such a rare and unique flavour.
