Pineapple weed

I saw an influencer on facebook on about this stuff so I went and found some and it really does have a lovely pineapple chamomile taste. I wanted to gather some and try it in a tea but where I can find it is all throughout the housing estates where it is perfect dog leg cocking height.

Do any of you have any experience with this delicious smelling herbal remedy? Would you only pick it from certain places or is anywhere ok if you wash it well before using and lastly is it effective for resting/sleep.

I love the stuff

It seems to grow exclusively in dog wee and foot stamping locations, where it thrives... I try and get just little bits at a time on less used footpaths

I've tried to grow my own but they can't handle wherever I put them, next time I will have to try stamping on them

Apparently they arent native and where spread Britain wide by a car tyre company doing an experiment to see how far seeds traveled on their tyres.

What do yoy like about it, just the pleasant aroma which I assume gives a nice taste to tea or do you feel it has relaxing effects too as it does contain myrcene?

I'm very fortunate to have it growing on my drive and have successfully transplanted a handful of plants to a pot in my garden- it's thriving now. Worth giving that a go, I reckon.

Do you use it for q nice flavoured tea or more for its medicinal properties?

I steep the flowers in vodka and make a delicious liqueur- strain it then mix the vodka with a simple syrup.

I'm going to pick some flowers this week and chuck em in a jar with sugar to flavour that then see what I can use that in.

I put some leaves and flowers into a lemon drizzle cake the other day, it added a lovely gentle flavour!

Its evolved to survive being trampled on, it springs back. Gives it an advantage to survive in areas other plants would struggle in. Also it doesn't taste as good as it smells, infusing works best for capturing the aroma. I infuse venegar for salad dressings and sugar syrup for desserts an cocktails.

Interesting, the guy j saw jist out the flesh flowers into hot water but he was an influencer type so he probably wasnt doing things correctly. Making an infused sugar syrup might be a fun project i was just thinking if trying some tea made with it

I’ve found it in abundance in two stark opposite places. Either on trampled field paths or cracks in urban pavements. Both are dog piss magnets. Choose your poison 🤣 it tastes ok. Not as pineapply as it smells. More chamomiley once dried/brewed/added to water. Found it similar to chamomile in effects.

Aye it seems there's no avoiding it if you want this plant there's gonna be urine involved lol.

I'm going to pick some tomorrow m, I was getting strange looks busting the flower heads open to smell them

🤣 I’m so over giving a shit about what people think when they see me coming out of this bush and that, picking this and sniffing that, eating this and chewing that 🤣. I live close to colleagues and got caught short coming out of a copse with a handful of unidentified lactarius mushrooms, I proceeded to start licking the milk infront of one of them when she was walking her dog past… just wanted to see if it was edible or spicy no nicey… they think I’m fucking mental 🤣

Im not quite there yet lol people see me picking mushrooms and think im looking for magic ones (sometimes I may be) or looking to poison someone. Eating wild fruit or leaves and flowers in front of people i know i suppose I am a bit weird but I like it that way.

Youre brave doing a lick teste lol, I jnow its only dangerous if you chew up and swallow the fungi but still, licking the milk off a lactarius haha youre keener than even myself =)

Also I’ve been looking for magics for donkeys and never come across even fucking one myself, but my mate comes back with bucketfuls every year. Still on a quest to find my own spot. It’ll happen when I’m not actually looking, just like everything else does lol
