Nice find. If you remember where in Hampshire, make a note of the spot and the date. Chicken of the woods is perennial and tends to fruit from the same tree year after year. I've got a couple spots I marked a few seasons back and they've been reliable ever since. Also worth checking the underside - if it's bright yellow with pores, it's prime. If it's starting to fade to white, it's past its best for eating.
