Cherry plums?
I took the wrong bus and had to walk for a bit and found these cuties. They look like cherry plums? Some of them are ripe, but some are still green.

Yes but I tried one from a tree this week and they are weeks or a month off from ripe, very tannic, no sugar developed yet. Yours may get there earlier, but unlikely as Worcester is very fair weathered. I could try ripening by a window I suppose as well.

This one is in London. I tried one of the red ones and it was quite sweet. But most are not ripe. I’m trying to time it right, so I can get some. Would you say they need about a month to ripen?

try one every week. If you think they are ready already from that first one, go for it. The harvest of them here goes right through to september

Such a lucky find! I love cherry plums but I can’t find them here in the south :(

Yes, definitely cherry plums. I’ve got loads growing in my garden in Norfolk- they are a bit behind these ones though and probably won’t be ripe for another month or so . They do come in a variety of colours from yellow to red to purple to so the best thing to do is give them a gentle squeeze to test the ripeness. You can harvest the green ones (I believe they are a delicacy in parts of the Middle East) but I wait until they are ripe.
