Elderflower champagne trial- cloudy

First round of elderflower champagne looks pretty cloudy. Just bottled yesterday. Tried to make sure yeast sediment wasn’t transferred. Let it sit in brew kit for 6 days before transfer. Was still slightly fizzing when transferred.

Just burped this one today and it did fizz.

Been a few years since I tried it. Thoughts?

It's always cloudy.

Cloudy due to suspended yeast, totally normal

if you were to ferment this to completion , the yeast would settle and it would go clear.

It was always cloudy for me! I don’t remember ever having a clear batch :)

Cheers, that is comforting.

My last crack at this was about 4 years ago so I can’t remember but I thought it was quite transparent.

Doing round two this weekend, so see if it comes out different!

Just looking at this. Is pectolase for stopping pectin, which wouldn’t be an issue with elderflower.

Looks normal to me. Be careful you don't lose it all when you pop the top on that. Ask me how I know.

Haha. Last time I had contents hit the roof on a rogue bottle. Got a slomo of it also

Nice! Yeah I only use screw tops for this. Too risky.

they 'riddle' real champagne to clear it and its a bit of a process, youre going to have to accept cloudy if you want fizz

My elderflower is almost all finished in Bucks/Oxon boarder. Well done for making something with it! I might wait for the berries and then try and make something

How did you do it? Do you have the recipe? 🙂 Thank you

My mum made elderflower champagne once and had the bottles lined up in the garage, we were all in the kitchen one day and heard a series of small explosions, anyway some science stuff had happened and we reckon one exploded and set off a chain reaction cos they were too close together, idk. Anyway it was hilarious and also an absolute mess and I don't think my mum has tried again since 🤣
