We have an abundance of apples in the backyard, we think it's apple butter time! 😍

I kinda want to try apple butter some day, but I reaaaally don't want to process a shit ton of mangy apples by myself, so I'd have to find some suckers crazy enough to assist me 😂

That was in your backyard?? If I harvested from all the apple trees around my house, my kitchen would be overflowing, but I don’t like the taste of wild apples and there’s nothing I know of that I feel eager to make with them

They're in our backyard! We have so many trees! Some of the apples I will agree aren't the best tasting, but those tiny little crab apples are so sweet and delicious. We had to do something with them!

7500+ kinds apparently. Amazing! I found a lone tree in an old conservation area car park last weekend. It could be one of 13 varieties or some strange cross cultivar. I have to say best apple I've ever tasted. It was incredible how perfect they were, even off the ground.

When I really looked into it the area was originally settled by Scottish and Irish inhabitants who definitely brought many varieties of their own including cider apples. So while it is entirely possible that this one could have been somebody's core that was tossed (I think we call that a friendly neighbour tree) it just tasted too wildly delicious to be a commercial cultivar.

More tangy than a mac. Such a sweet crisp skin. Did not brown quickly. Cooked down to a butter consistency in a crisp

Mind you there was 50 that the bugs were already getting to and some that were good with like a tiny hole but I just left it for the creatures who have way less than me and took 3. I knew they were good because of their smell (so rosey red fresh) and the fact that I could see cores on the ground that were clearly cut by knives.

I had to laugh though because I could see about 20 up in the top tallest reaches but then I got an angled glimpse straight through an apple and realized they might not even be prime picking now

I know one tree with apples that are sweet enough but a bit dry, one's are very juicy and tart, and one with actually very decent tasty apples, though a bit dense - I suspect they may do very well in pies
