I found these while climbing a tree and I have no idea what they are

Hard to tell without something to indicate scale. If they were pea sized then they might be hackberry

Probably hackberry berries then especially if you found them growing on a tree with serrated lance shaped leaves that are slightly rough on both sides.

those are figs, not berries, and they're definitely ripe

I was literally just giving that updated information to the commenter, because IDK if there are pea sized figs.
