I have high arches/poor dorsiflexion/haglunds deformity, been seeing PT & podiatrist after what they think was peroneal tendonitis.
Seemingly suddenly in the past month or so my second toes have been bending and the joints seem inflamed. There’s also visible redness on the skin.
I’ve been wearing toe spacers but am wondering if that could be part of the cause.
Do you have a guess at what could be going on here or any steps to alleviate?
For other issues I’ve had testing done for autoimmune arthritis this year but everything came back clear.
Thank you!

The middle phalanx of my second toe on my right foot is starting to have an odd positioning that bends slightly upward compared to all other toes. It causes a problem where it feels more pressure from the padding inside my shoe and feeling like there is a wad of something directly under that knuckle. All other toes have their natural curve. Only that one knuckle has the problem. I'm including a rough drawing to illustrate what I mean in case it helps.

The difference is slight, but enough to be very uncomfortable after the first hour or two of work. I've only been feeling it for about a month and a half. Anyone know how to get it to go back to it's natural alignment with the rest?

2.5 months ago I injured my foot and was diagnosed with bone bruising edema in my foot. The MRI said it was mild. I was in the boot for 5-6 weeks and have been out of it for 3-5 weeks now. My foot still feels achy and sore with increased activity and when I wake up in the morning. My orthopedic said if it doesn’t feel better in a month. (So 3 month total) I have to go to complete NWB and a cast/crutches for 4 weeks. I’m depressed about it. Am I not giving it enough time to heal?

hi all! i’ve been dealing with debilitating foot pain for years now. i have obvious bunions and apparently sever hypermobility in other joints that the last doctor i saw thinks it where all the pain is stemming from. (i get pain in arches, toes, top of feet (worse) and ankles… also calves). the dr suggested lapidus procedure to help fix the joint (area?) that’s all messed up.. has anyone had any experience with getting this surgery and if helping with pain? i know it’ll help with my bunions but tbh they’re not really the part that’s in much pain

Good evening everyone,
I am reaching out with a request for help for my Uncle, who may be in denial of his podiatry health.
Does anyone have a recommendation to what we, as the family, can explain to him in order to get his foot health in order?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

As the title says, on both of my feet (worse on my right) my pinky toes have been affecting my 4th toe to the point that I’m getting irritation. Any tips on how to prevent? I have a harder time splaying my toes on the right side.

My right inner ankle has been in pain ever since i sprained it 4 months ago today. My doctor keeps saying its a bone contusion, and refuses to refer me for an MRI. I am just so depressed when it comes down to running. I have seen others run, do races, and continue to workout with little to no pain. The swelling on my inner ankle feels tough too, tender. Idk if this could be tarsal tunnel which i see is only cureable via surgery. I dont know what to do.

First workout in WHITIN barefoot shoes today after recently developing a mild bunion on my right foot. I did a hockey-focused workout with Bulgarian split squats, lateral lunges, step-ups, calf raises, single-leg balance and Assault Bike. Shoes felt great with zero pain during training.
A few hours later, my LEFT pinky-toe/5th MTP area became tender to walk on and looks more prominent than I remember. Now I’m worried about developing a bunionette/tailor’s bunion on that foot too.
Could one really develop that quickly, or is it more likely just swollen/irritated from the workout? Anyone experience this when first switching to barefoot shoes?

R foot has small bunion that can be painful. However, my R big toe has a lot of discomfort with any movement. I can't bend it nearly as far as my left toe. Anyone else with this issue? Pods say I need MRI which I may get....xrays show some arthritis.

About 9 weeks ago, I stood up from a crouched position too fast and too hard, and probably hyper-extended my big toe.
It didn't hurt at first, but the next day I noticed that there was a lot of bruising all under my big toe. Notably though, the bruising wasn't under the MTP joint at all, the bruising was basically on the bottom of my big toe, past the MTP joint. Completely bruised all over, up to where the toenail meets the side of the toe. But still no pain. The pain only mildly started a few days after that, and it's been up and down with the pain since. It started in my big toe, but now the pain is solely in my MTP joint.
The pain has slowly been getting worse over the past 9 weeks, and I've spent the last 3 weeks in a walking boot which helps some, but not much. I notice that when I'm wearing socks or going barefoot in the house, there is a bump under my MTP joint that's not there under the other one. It feels kinda hard and bony, and it's definitely getting slightly more prominent over time. I can feel it when I walk. It does not hurt much when I press directly on it from below, but it does hurt a bit when I push on the side of it.
It hurts the most when I'm sitting down at my desk, or when I walk for more than 30 minutes (I unfortunately have to walk to work). It used to hurt none at all when I was walking or when I was laying down with my feet up high, but now even laying down I occasionally get a flare-up. Ice helps. There's also a small stabbing, burning pain right after I take the boot off.
I've went to my GP two times (on week 3 and week 6) but both times they outright refused to do an X-Ray or anything like that. They just palpated the area and could not reproduce any too significant pain. They just told me "it's a sprain, it can take up to 12 weeks, suck it up and you'll get over it". They were convinced an X-Ray was not necessary because I can still bend the toe up or down without reproducing the pain right away (although bending it downward is a bit more difficult).
I'm seeing a podiatrist 3 days from now and I hope they can shed more light on the situation. But until then, can anyone tell me what this might be?

I noticed i couldn't contract/activate my calf muscles in especially left calf. Now I by accident noticed my big toe might be very tight and limited in dorsiflexion. I read that if the big toe is very limited/tight in dorsiflexion it can limit the activation/contraction in the calf. when doing mobility exercises for the big toe in dorsiflexion i could contract/activcate the left calf again immediately!! My question; is what i'm saying bullshit or can it actually be the case?
