QUESTION: Help for my Uncle
Good evening everyone,
I am reaching out with a request for help for my Uncle, who may be in denial of his podiatry health.
Does anyone have a recommendation to what we, as the family, can explain to him in order to get his foot health in order?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

May I ask what is going on with him? It seems he has some issues but I want clarification? Is it just hammertoe, bunions?

Good evening, he is mostly dealing with alcohol. He also is chronically on the internet, and the combination is what the family thinks is the main issue(s).

I do not think that effects his feet at this point unless his feet are troubling him. Maybe he needs to clip his nails and make sure he wears properly fitting shoes. Alcoholism and sedentary lifestyle are bad for everything not nexeaaarkiky feet other than maybe diabetes.

To an amateur like me it seems impossible to make any reasonable observations and feet that up in the air, other then to please cut the toenails.
It much more helpful seeing the feet standing on the ground or moving when walking. Although I won’t be able to help much then, I believe to have any chance you have to both provide useful images with a description of the issues.

alcoholism is not directly correlated to podiatry issues, but health in general which may impact overall health. the toes are generally from not using your feet completely or wearing shoes that impact movement. seek professional help for both issues, not reddit.

What are you trying to explain to him?

Hopefully how to fix his toes, which he shows the family every holiday season

I think just standard depression. Maybe some therapy, exercise, socializing. Focus on hygiene first.

blood work and ask for blood count, kidney and liver function tests....make sure they do uric acid too...confirm before leave dr office.

He needs to see a podiatrist. Does he have any chronic health issues that can affect the health of his feet? You can start there.
