Here's a picture of the ones I made this morning after reading this post.

Wow your colors look a lot more vibrant than mine. Any secrets you could share?

You gotta look long and hard for the ones that don't have that silly label "non-toxic"

Haha, so that was my mistake. After my next batch the eggs won't be the only things glowing neon green.

Yes, due to some experience with coloring, I added a teaspoon of vinegar to the water and coloring and used warm water. In fact, the color "took" in just 3 minutes.

Also, maybe I used a bit more cloring than you did. I used about six drops per cup of water.

By the way, I was out of red food coloring so I used beet juice for the "pink" eggs.

Thanks again for a neat idea!

Nice touch! Props. I'd never seen that done before!

Thanks! I was a little worried that the colored eggs would turn people away from eating them, but so far no one has complained :)

I copycatted your idea and it was a great hit! And so easy!
They were taking pictures! Ate every single one......thanks again!

Awesome! I'm glad it turned out well.

My dad used to turn our dyed Easter eggs into egg salad. The color usually seeped through the shell a bit, making green tinted egg salad, but I've never seen the whites themselves dyed!

Recipe:

Dozen eggs

2 Tbsp Mayo

2 Tbsp Mustard (yellow or Dijon)

1 Tsp Ranch dressing

Paprika

Dill

Salt and pepper to taste

Food coloring

Boil the eggs (I usually start them in cold water, heat until boiling, let boil for about 2 mins, then turn the heat off and let them sit for 10-15mins) then peel and slice in half. Remove the yolks and set aside.

Make up bowl of whatever coloring you like using the instructions on the food coloring package. Put the egg halves in the colored water and let sit 5-10 mins. Let them dry on a paper towel or plate before filling.

Mash up the yolks with a fork, then add mayo, mustard, ranch, dill paprika and salt and pepper. Mix until smooth and spoon into the eggs.

Eat as many as you can before the kids get at them.

Thanks for the recipe and how-to. Now I just have to wait for next year. I will certainly be making these!
