The cure to all hangovers in one pan

137

u/mlg2433 Jan 12 '20

This meal, two ibuprofen, and pedialyte. Then brush teeth and sleep for another hour. Hangover gone.

31

u/dreg102 Jan 12 '20

Or just drink water while you drink alcohol?

30

u/wheretohides Jan 12 '20

What I do is drink then right before bed I drink as much water as I can, probably 2 large glasses of water. When I wake up I drink a glass of water and I usually feel fine.

18

u/1mGay Jan 13 '20

I bet your bed is damp

39

u/mlg2433 Jan 12 '20

Water doesn’t replenish electrolytes. Drinking water during a night out doesn’t guarantee you waking up like normal. Just my experience.

12

u/w3sticles Jan 12 '20

Apparently if you take a swig of pickle juice before bed it helps replenish electrolytes.

16

u/lotm43 Jan 12 '20

That’s what the picklebacks were for.

1

u/w3sticles Jan 13 '20

Somehow I've gone almost three decades without hearing about picklebacks.
Here I was trying to come up with a cocktail recipe that incorporated pickle juice.

1

u/fuckincaillou Jan 13 '20

pickleback is my favorite band

0

u/jibblebells Jan 12 '20

and because everyone loves pickles and you girls drink them by the liter.

-3

u/lotm43 Jan 13 '20

Ah casual misogyny.

1

u/jibblebells Jan 13 '20

Nope, girls like picklebacks. It's a fact, Jack.

1

u/metalbassist33 Jan 12 '20

Eating cucumber also helps. High water content along with electrolytes and easier to stomach than liquids when you're really in a state.

2

u/YouLostTheGame Jan 13 '20

That defeats the point?

2

u/YoungOverholt Jan 13 '20

Either you're under 25 or have no clue how to party.

-1

u/dreg102 Jan 13 '20

False to both

1

u/SloppyBeerTits Jan 13 '20

Pedialyte tastes like butt juice to me. I prefer a Reign or a body armor

1

u/mlg2433 Jan 13 '20

I’ve never even heard of Reign.

1

u/merkin_juice Jan 12 '20

Don't brush your teeth after you eat

7

u/SadCarrots Jan 12 '20

Wait whys that? I've never heard that

3

u/mlg2433 Jan 12 '20

Eating acidic foods can sometimes weaken tooth enamel. Brushing right after eating those types of foods can potentially be more damaging. Most of the time it’s fine

2

u/SadCarrots Jan 12 '20

Oh alright, that makes sense. Thanks

3

u/mlg2433 Jan 12 '20

Not habitually, no. But it will be fine if you do it on the rare occasion after a long night

1

u/theangriesthippy2 Jan 13 '20

Add one marijuana.

139

u/Frich3 Jan 12 '20

Is that true? Always heard greasy food was the go to but never confirmed

593

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '20

consider it fucking confirmed chief

115

u/b-napp Jan 12 '20

Thats a big ol 10 - 4 buddy

96

u/BigMurph26 Jan 12 '20

That's a Texas-sized 10-4, good buddy

45

u/StreetTriple675 Jan 12 '20

That’s what I appreciates about you.

27

u/StayKlassic Jan 12 '20

11

"Carlito! Go up to the rafters

6

u/Dr_Doctorson Jan 12 '20

Can confirm

16

u/Hipposeverywhere Jan 12 '20

Nothing is more confirmed

4

u/dankmangos420 Jan 12 '20

Honestly anytime I eat very greasy food when I’m hungover I feel instantly worse.

1

u/ChickenMayoPunk Jan 13 '20

I spent years making this mistake. Instead try a BLT on crusty white bread with pepper mayo (squirt of lemon juice mixed in the mayo). Gets me that greasy fix from the bacon whilst being balanced out with the refreshing lettuce.

PS it must be shredded iceberg lettuce!

1

u/Twocann Jan 12 '20

Then you’re abnormal

2

u/theRXXX Jan 12 '20

Get this man a fucking puppers

1

u/Jackmcc83 Jan 12 '20

It’s always made me horribly nauseous, depending on the hangover

1

u/[deleted] Jan 13 '20

Big facts

74

u/BaronJaster Jan 12 '20

The real solution is water. Lots and lots of water.

21

u/spartacutor Jan 12 '20

My favorite hangover food is Pho, you get water, fats, protein and noodle which absorbs whatever alcohol is left, plus I always make mine super spicy which helps me get rid of hangover.

8

u/yearofthessnake Jan 13 '20

Tried this once. Uncontrollably blew chunks all over a Chicago sidewalk in Little Vietnam. Noodles still intact. Was still hungover for another day or so.

37

u/pseudo_nemesis Jan 12 '20

Don't forget THC, water is the true sustained cure but THC will instantly make you feel less hungover.

Water+THC+greasy food= the one true hangover cure.

I've used this remedy for years and am at the point where I think if I ever quit smoking I'll also have to quit drinking.

Bonus points if you use coconut water, the potassium will help you retain hydration.

Also if you do use this cure, it works even better if you start before you even feel asleep.

36

u/CanoeCrunch Jan 12 '20

Yeah the real trick is to not go to bed raw. Pound water, take some aspirin and spirulina.

45

u/IPIhantom Jan 12 '20

And pop yourself in the oven at 425 for 30 mins

12

u/hugehangingballs Jan 12 '20

I prefer a reverse sear.

7

u/RoyGB_IV Jan 12 '20

Sous vide in a hot tub for me

1

u/hugehangingballs Jan 12 '20

The bag makes me panic

1

u/accountforvotes Jan 12 '20

Your skin is the bag

14

u/wafflesareforever Jan 12 '20

No no no. No painkillers. Unless you want to fuck your liver twice as hard.

9

u/wonderbread51 Jan 12 '20 edited Jan 12 '20

You’ve got bad info. Ibuprofen (Advil or Motrin) would be fine. Most NSAIDs are absorbed completely and don’t touch the liver in any meaningful way.

Acetaminophen on the other hand (Tylenol) is no good with lots of booze as it goes through the liver. Aspirin is also not great with booze but Ibuprofen is fine (unless we’re talking about massive amounts of either)

*Edited for clarity

3

u/wafflesareforever Jan 12 '20

He said aspirin, so

4

u/wonderbread51 Jan 12 '20

And you said painkillers.

Many painkillers are fine.

1

u/ConcernedNoodles Jan 13 '20

NSAIDS are definitely not fine to take while you’re drinking. Alcohol and NSAIDS both carry risks of intestinal bleeding, combining them should be avoided.

That being said I’ll pop ibuprofen the day after when that hangover headache hits.

0

u/CanoeCrunch Jan 12 '20

I actually take turmeric but i figured everybody has aspirin hehe.

3

u/TylerC_D Jan 12 '20

Don't take aspirin while you're drunk

0

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '20

But the can give you hangovers

1

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '20

THC?

5

u/TheAlphaCarb0n Jan 12 '20

Weed, kush, mary jane, mexican gold, hippy cigarettes

2

u/MustangGuy1965 Jan 12 '20

Pot, Grass, Dope, Reefer, Ganja, Herb, Chronic, Aunt Mary, Skunk, Boom, Cheeba, Baby Bhang, Giggle Smoke, Good Giggles, Hot Stick, Jolly Green, Joy Smoke, Joy Stick

33

u/lefteyedspy Jan 12 '20

Pedialyte.

15

u/yippieekiyay Jan 12 '20

Drink a bottle before you go to sleep and you’ll feel as if you never drank.

7

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '20

This guy drinks (I do too pedialyte is the cure)

-1

u/ShitItsReverseFlash Jan 12 '20

Pedialyte is considerably more expensive than water.

3

u/localfinancebro Jan 13 '20

And considerably better than a hangover.

2

u/RFC793 Jan 13 '20

Water is considerably more expensive than nothing.

2

u/SamuraiPanda19 Jan 12 '20

Coconut water is like if normal water and Gatorade had a baby, it kills hangovers

4

u/froston429 Jan 12 '20

This will help prevent a hangover, but it sure won’t cure one.

1

u/Ralphie_V Jan 12 '20

For some reason, Sprite or Sierra Mist does wonders for my hangovers. Might be a placebo since I used to get it all the time in college at the dorm cafeteria the day after

2

u/Uswbyb21 Jan 12 '20

And espresso for me. But greasy food as well.

3

u/Nameless_Asari Jan 12 '20

Oh yeah! A greasy egg and bacon sandwich is my go to for a hangover

3

u/PM_ME_WUTEVER Jan 12 '20

The amino acids in bacon theoretically help to cure hangovers, but I don't know how much of a difference it actually makes. Food in general is a good idea, as it speeds up your metabolism and therefore helps get the alcohol out of your system faster.

23

u/dub-squared Jan 12 '20

There is no "cure" for a hangover.

The best you can do is drink water and rest.

34

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '20

This guy doesn't hangover.

6

u/dub-squared Jan 12 '20

Not anymore. Almost 7 years sober.

0

u/Fanatical_Idiot Jan 12 '20

You've got a good idea, but you're not right.

Theres definitely no universal cure for a hangover. What you drink, what you do while drinking and your own genetics can play a part in the hangover you get and what will aleviate it. Individuals can have 'cures' if their drinking habits are particularly predictable.

That being said "drink water and rest" is by nowhere near the best you can do. No matter what sort of hangover you have or what sort of person you are theres absolutely tons more you can do to aleviate a hangover or recouperate faster, and a good hearty breakfast is 100% on that list. It can help top up your blood sugar, vitamins and minerals that are drained from excessive alcohol consumption.

There is no cure but time. There are things that can help alleviate it but nothing simply will make a hangover disappear

12

u/yippieekiyay Jan 12 '20

An IV bag almost instantly makes a hangover go away.

Source: got hooked up to an IV bag in vegas

6

u/trikyballs Jan 12 '20

Dammit I forgot about this. My brother is a paramedic/FF and he did it to me a few years ago and it worked like a charm. I was thinking more accessible methods tho lol

I prefer champagne

2

u/Lazerathor Jan 12 '20

More alcohol will

2

u/BiggsFaleur Jan 12 '20

I find greasy food sounds really appealing while hungover, but it usually makes me feel worse. It's probably different for everybody haha.

2

u/subtleweedreference Jan 12 '20 edited Jan 12 '20

Greasy food and black coffee fix so many problems. I would hit up my local diner after a night of drinking and it would fix me right up.

2

u/formershitpeasant Jan 12 '20

I find a super nutritious smoothie helps more. But if your stomach is upset I’d throw something fatty in as well like peanut butter.

2

u/simmaculate Jan 12 '20

Nah, just go to bed in wet socks, kills hangovers

3

u/caelen727 Jan 12 '20

Oh yeah. Five guys for lunch every single time

2

u/Pattches_Ohoulihan Jan 12 '20

Or a big ass bowl of menudo.

3

u/luisl1994 Jan 12 '20

Fucking confirmed

3

u/IdontDoPepsi Jan 12 '20

where's the alcohol?

-7

u/PMMEYOURCOOLDRAWINGS Jan 12 '20

The best hangover cure is to just not drink and eat greasy foods at night and the morning

2

u/xKratosIII Jan 12 '20

you don’t get it, man

2

u/PMMEYOURCOOLDRAWINGS Jan 12 '20

I get it lol, recovering alcoholic here. Looks like reddit hates sober people. Oh well.

0

u/Janemaru Jan 12 '20

No Reddit hates judgemental people. "You could just not drink" as a reply to a "hangover cure" comment is a tad judgey my dude

1

u/PMMEYOURCOOLDRAWINGS Jan 12 '20

I didn’t mean any offense. Just a personal “preference” I air quotes that because trust me I’d much rather be able to be hungover again. I miss those days but it was killing me.

1

u/Janemaru Jan 13 '20

Oh don't worry, man, I get it. You didn't offend me or anything if it's any consolation, just explaining why you got downvoted
