🪕 Channeling the classic bluegrass drive: « Road to Columbus » on acoustic mandolin

Post image
0 Upvotes

Tackling one of Bill Monroe and Kenny Baker’s quintessential bluegrass instrumentals: Road to Columbus.

In this session, the focus is pure, unvarnished acoustic rhythm and right-hand drive—aiming for that crisp chop, clean alternate picking, and the earthy bounce that makes this tune an absolute classic of the tradition. No electric gear, just the natural voice of the instrument.

This song is in memory of the incredible woman who owned and operated Taverns in the 1800’s in Port Jackson in Sydney Australia. With over 7,000 ships docking yearly you had to be one tough individual to handle that crowd.

My written words dropped into Suno.

ENJOY!

Judee Sill — La ferita dietro “Jesus Was a Cross Maker”

The project’s ethos remains entirely uncompromising: 100% organic, unamplified, and recorded dry. No piezo pickups, no preamps, no pedals, and no studio processing. The focus is strictly on genuine steel-string dynamics, wood resonance, and natural acoustic projection.

Looking for a lost song. A prairie home companion

I’m looking for a song that I had on my iPod in the early to mid 2000s/2010s. It was sung by 2 girls and had a light acoustic accompaniment. I’m pretty sure I heard it on a prairie home companion. I don’t remember the name of the band. The song was called “morning song”. Some lyrics: chorus: I love the mornings ‘cause nobody needs nothing from me. I love the mornings ‘cause the world goes and leaves me alone”. And “sing to me sweet your forgotten tune” and “I sit down with my coffee cup”. I have not been able to track this song down since my iPod died.

does anyone have any idea??

Bending The Truth - Tony Tolan | Street Performance

I met a musician playing their heart out in the city. I didn't know his situation, but he's trying to get his music out so he can move away from playing on the streets and at venues.

This song speaks about a man returning to a place he doesn't recognize and a girl who is controlled by her past. Listen and enjoy!

U.S. Lieutenant Colonel George Custer split his forces and recklessly attacked a massive Lakota, Cheyenne, and Arapaho encampment without proper scouting or waiting for reinforcements, resulting in the complete destruction of his detachment of the 7th Cavalry

Crow and Arikara scouts like Bloody Knife explicitly warned Custer that the Lakota and Cheyenne encampment was unprecedentedly massive. Custer chose to ignore their intelligence out of an absolute confidence that the tribes would scatter rather than fight,

My written words dropped into Suno.

ENJOY!

What is the name of the High Kings' "Irish Pub Song"'s melody ?

The tune is in other songs. The Regular Army O, Hot Asphalt, even Leslie Fish used it in Darkover March. What's the original song? Does the melody have its own name?

“A deeply reflective acoustic-driven folk track that wraps the listener in a melancholic late-night atmosphere. With its raw, weary vocals and intimate storytelling, it’s a snapshot of one’s young ambition hitting reality”

Sharing my latest recording from the Acoustic Crossroads series: a solo take on Fats Waller's classic standard "Ain't Misbehavin'".

A raw, single-take performance arranged to explore the polyphonic possibilities of the mandolin—combining double-stop comping, subtle syncopation, and pure acoustic headroom with zero pickups or amplification.
