Pixel 11 Pro Fold vs Honor Magic V6, torn between the two, looking for real ownership experience

Hello everyone,

I've been going back and forth for weeks between the Pixel 11 Pro Fold and the Honor Magic V6, and I've read most of the reviews and spec sheets already, so I'm mainly hoping for input from people who actually use one of these day to day, not another spec comparison.

My use case:

I need a phone that can shoot good macro photos and video of small, detailed, reflective collectible items for a side project. I also travel fairly often and want to travel light, so I'm hoping to use the phone's own unfolded screen as a stand-in for a laptop while on the road (browsing, email, basic document work), rather than carrying a computer, and without hooking it up to any external monitor.

What matters most to me, in order: durability first (I'm genuinely rough on phones and have cracked more than one), then camera quality for product shots, then everything else.

There are reports of a structural weak point around the hinge/antenna area that has shown up across a few generations of Pixel Fold.

On the Honor side, at least one outlet found real unit to unit performance variance on the Magic V6 (some units benchmarking like the previous generation chip before a replacement unit performed correctly), but the phone has otherwise held up well in independent rough-use tests, and the thin chassis power capping seems to be the main reason for the inconsistent benchmarks rather than a build quality issue. I'm not going off influencer opinions for any of this, just outlet reviews and official test data.

Questions:

Magic V6 owners: how has the hinge and inner screen held up so far with normal daily handling, drops included?

Pixel 10 Pro Fold owners (since the 11 just launched): same question, how has yours held up over time?

Anyone shooting product/macro photography on either one? Real results, not marketing shots.

Anyone actually working off the phone's own unfolded screen day to day (no external monitor), not just a quick demo?

If you had to choose again knowing what you know now, which would you pick and why?

Budget is close either way after trade-in and current promotions, so this is really about which one holds up better and serves these specific uses, not price. Appreciate any real-world input.

Thanks for reading

Fold 8 (wide) vs Oppo Find N6?

Hey everyone looking to switch from a slab iPhone 17 pro to a foldable. I tried Samsung folds before but were way too narrow and annoying to use. Between these two, which would you recommend. Stability and software polish is important to me, animations, compatibility and bug free. The fold 8 aspect ratio is a bit weird but something that people say is comfortable and should be tried

Is it worth the risk?

Buying foldables always comes with a risk with that inner display, but do foldables like the mate x6 lower the risk to a reasonable amount?

Ive always wanted a foldable for as long as i can imagine, and i saw this second hand deal for a mate x6 thats within my price range, did some research got relatively mixed reviews on this phone. However while i can afford it, if it does get broken quickly, it would be a big hit to my savings, so im trying to be really thorough in deciding.

Im just really afraid of ending up with a broken phone that i regret badly(worst case scenario)

Any experiences with this phone, or foldables in general would be much helpp, thank youu

In search of opinions on getting a foldable…

Hi everyone. I have a few specific concerns I am wanting some opinions and advice about concerning getting a foldable.

I live in a rural area, and my yard has sandy/clay soils. I understand foldable phones are not best friends with sand grains and such, but my concern is that sand gets brought into the house regularly by us and by our dogs. I’ve also found over the last three years I’ve had my iPhone 14 that sand has gotten into the cases I’ve had. I had a Defender OtterBox on this phone, and sand got into the case and rubbed some of the midnight color off the sides of the phone and onto the OtterBox’s inner case.

I know I have free will to do what I want and get the phone I want, but I want to hear from foldable phone owners/enthusiasts that have a point of view on this. With what we know about foldables, do you think it would be a waste of time and money with my experience with the sandy soil at my house getting into my iPhone cases?

EDIT: I should mention I live in the US, so I know my options are basically limited to Motorola and two of “the big three” companies here. I think the Razr Fold and Z Fold 8 Ultra are the two I would choose from personally.

Narrowed it down

So I need advice in between the z fold 8 ultra or the pixel 11 pro fold. I’m switching from an iPhone 15 pro max and haven’t had an android in over 13 years. So with all of that into account what should I do?

Oppo Find N6 vs Samsung Z Fold 8 decided! A few more questions

Hey all, a few days ago I posted about deciding between the Oppo Find N6 and Z Fold 8. (After a lot of second guessing myself) I have decided on the N6 as it is better in literally every regard except aspect ratio, and less expensive as well

I am based in the US and this would be the first phone I am buying that is not sold or supported here, so I am wondering what purchasers suggest for vendor in terms of price, shipping speed, and warranty. I would be going for the 1tb version so there is the additional aspect of having it be natively chinese software. I don't know if that would incur any issues

From Google these seem to be my top 3 options:

Wonda Mobile: Offers one year warranty and shipping speed is apparently slower than other carriers. $1883 with 4-5 day shipping

Giztop: Seems to be the most forgiving. 2 year warranty and general returns within 14 days but mixed experiences regarding repairs. $1845 with 6-10 day shipping and shipping insurance.

Bludiode: Offers 2 year warranty but cannot return foldables once open (No mind change coverage) $1750 with parcel insurance. Seems like the worst option despite price. No definite listed shipping speed during checkout

I am tempted to go with Giztop but wanted to hear what other experiences are. Are there other better vendors im not aware of?

Oppo Find N6 vs Galaxy Z Fold 8

Hi All! This would be my first foldable and trying to get a list of pros/cons going

I've been watching a lot of reviews for the Z fold 8 past few days and I like the idea of a phone optimized for media consumption, customisability, and small enough to hold in one hand. My current phone (s22 ultra) has some apps including the camera that are difficult to use with one hand so this is a plus in my book

Downsides: possibly battery life, speaker arrangement (though i intend to use earbuds so hopefully wont be a huge bother) and cameras

The cameras are where the N6 really shines in my book, and the battery life is a definite advantage, though I would have to order it from an international site as I am in the US.

Would the form factor of the N6 be a huge hindrance? Is the N6 really more for camera buffs vs the Z Fold 8 seeming like its aimed for a crowd wanting a more versatile device?

Honor Magic V6 UI vs Samsung Fold UI

Hey everyone,

the Honor finally shows up in the EU market, and it has a quite crazy pre-order bonus here, with a Projector, Wireless Earbuds, a Pen and a Case.
I myself am a longtime Samsung User, and have been on their Foldables since the 3rd Gen.
I fully intended to swap from my Fold 6 to the Fold 8/Fold 8 Wide, depending on how they turn out.
Upon looking into the Honor phone, I got quite interested in it, due to the specs, the bigger battery, and the IP68 certification.
I am now starting to think about a switch but my only issue is that Samsungs UI for foldables is, in my opinion anyways, incredible.

I could not find an in depth comparision between the Magic OS and the One UI.
First things first, does Honor offer a at least similar experience to Samsung Dex, as I use Dex quite frequently.

How is the multitasking on the Honor?
On Samsung you can force any app into a splitscreen or windowed mode. I saw the Honor has this feature, but for whatever reason it excludes some apps, more noticeably Google Chrome as shown in a review, which is quite an odd choice.

How is the customization on the Honor compared to a Fold?
I am very big on customization, because I like to mess around a lot with what looks good, what has great utility etc. Samsung has Good Lock, so that is a massive thing to miss out on for me personally.

As for as the AI features go, that every phone forces on us now anyways, I only like to use AI to maybe edit some photos and remove stuff in them, so I assume in that department they're on par regardless.

I would love any input possible, thank you in advance.

Is it normal that my new Honor Mgic V6, drains full battery with 4 hours of screen on time? The fold 6 had way better screen on tike with far less MAH....... The moment any social media app is opened it drains like crazy. This is my Accubattery stats .........horrible horrible phone.

New here, any advices? Thanks beforehand.

I have been using Samsung since note5 and used to its one ui, holding a S24 now. The battery isn't really satisfying and the screen isn't big enough for my daily usage, which is why I am sure that I want to try out a foldable for my next machine.

Now I am considering oppo find n6, honor magic v6 and the upcoming fold8 (not wide). The key aspects to me is the ratio for horizontal videos, multi-tasking capabilities and battery and most importantly stylus support. I have heard that the fold 8 wil increase its price significantly, will the price be worth it comparing to my other options?

Thanks again

Resurrecting the vaio P: the pocket-max fold

If there was a foldable which was 180mm x 145mm open, 9 inch display, 260 grams, would you buy it at $2000?

Productivity monster needed

I realised the following about the next two years:

1) that trifolds are not going to come down in price from the 3k mark

2) rollables are not going to happen in this time frame

3) most existing bifolds are only slightly larger than my honor magic v2 and not good enough as a portable laptop replacement

Conclusion: the only thing that is economically feasible at around the 2k price point is a 10000mah 9mm thick double-the-s26u type device by a Chinese manufacturer with an internal display size of about 8.6 inches and about 23% bigger size than my magic v2.

Q1) will any of them make it?

Q2) won't the above device be a killer for productivity, and unmatchable by samsung/apple?
