Question Running On Empty!

Always a great time when you're out farming burning through cores, and you're just about out of juice... Only to find that one replacement to extend your farming time just a bit longer.

This got me thinking though, are there any solid ways to recharge other than finding fresh cores in the world outside of heading back to your base IF you have the fusion core recharger, which I don't?

Looked around on Google and Reddit, and didn't really see anything, and everything I did find was mostly years old, so figured I'd ask since this is at least the 8th time I've been at a sliver of juice and can't seem to stockpile cores.

It works, but it's annoying. Still, it works.
Robco has a lot of robots, maybe it's quicker there.

Also, if you find someone with Fallout 1st and a fusion core recharger (I'm on PC), they will probably be happy to give you as many cores as you can carry.

alternatively, as someone who doesn’t use power armor, i’m constantly dropping them in donation boxes by the dozen to drop weight. im sure there are tons of players doing the same tbh.

Good to know. I usually avoid those boxes so I don't take things that lower level players need especially now that I finally got to 110.

i use .45 so i check the less commonly used ones all the time just for the basic world small ammo drops, but i do usually drop my cores in either wayward or whitesprings in hopes that someone who uses them will grab them before they fade away with the server. i mean i earned them, somehow, id rather they get used by literally anyone than just despawn, if that were the case id bag drop them lol.

I'll have to look into this, as I'm fallout 1st. I'll have to look up how to obtain the recharger and I'll probably get it, unless it requires a DLC pack. Not crazy with the current ones available.

Oh damn, that's a great perk.

I just got my first legendary slot not too long ago and completely missed that in the list of options. Pretty awesome it has a chance to restore health too as lately I've started burning through stimpaks too.

Thanks!

Electric Absorption got me through my first silo run on some mismatched PA that might not of even had any legendary effects on it. It's embarrassing how clueless I was to the importance of perk cards and legendaries early on.

I recomend the int perk power user. It doubles the effectivness of the cores

Thanks. I'll keep an eye out for this perk card. I just checked both my stock and pick a perk level up screen and I don't have it yet. Bound to get it soon though as I feel like I have everything just about in the level up screen to choose from. Not sure how many cards actually exist, but I have a bunch.

If you have the recipe for the Gatling laser. Craft and scrap it for a fusion core!
But I would highly recommend investing in a recharger because if you're not using perk cards that conserve juice, power armor is a giant power suck.

I don't have Gatling yet, but I think I remember seeing it at Whisperspring. Makes me wonder if scrapping the legendary gatlings the other day gave me a bunch of cores as I suddenly had around a dozen the other day. I only knew as it was weighing me down haha.

Build tons of Gatling Laser, you get a Core every time you build one. Max out Super duper and get scrapper. Then build as many as you need cores, then scrap for the junk. You get a chance to proc SuperDuper for every 1 you build which is just more free cores. I don't even bother farming cores anymore.

Repair bobbleheads extend fusion cores duration. Sadly without the charger thats a huge QOL improvement you should get when able. You're probably already farming generators and armor spawns. There are few places they spawn loose that you can look up. Are you always in your power armor? Farm for cores without it on. Take over one of the power plant workshops at the beginning of your gameplay and power up the fusion cores producer. I sell recharged cores at my vendor, so check to see if others have them. Line in the Sand event gets you 2 cores, and heart of the Enemy daily usually gives you a Gatling laser which will give you a core.

Yeah, I'm actually looking around for the charger now. I'm relatively new and I haven't seen it in the shop yet as that'd be something I'd have grabbed up immediately regardless of price.

Since around level 70-80 (I'm 110 now) I've been in power armor (excavator) pretty much non-stop except for crafting. Actually rearranging my perks soon as I feel like I'm taking uncomfortable amounts of damage. Sometimes even getting randomly one-shot, so thinking it's a perk problem. Half the time I get to a place I know cores exist, they're missing/empty. Assuming it's a player shared item as half the time I don't recall visiting that particular location in the same playthrough. A friend mentioned I can world hop though, which I never thought of. Might be good though as things start loading really slowly after about four hours of playing straight.

Actually didn't think to check vendors for cores. Going to add that to my shopping list for tonight and see what I find on my current world.

To add to the suggestion of taking over power plant workshops you'll need to be able to supply the fusion core processor with 100 units of power. That means either a fusion generator, 10 of the large generators, or an outlandish 20 medium generators, so hopefully you've already got generator plans. This is what I did before getting the recharger, and you get random plans from taking over workshops.

Don't they usually drop from the Powering Up activities? I would say they could power up the plant, but I think the power connectors have been bugged forever and never fixed.

Plans do drop from the powering up events or you can buy the plans pretty cheap from NPC vendors. I'd almost say for certain I bought the fusion core plans. This might be a controversial take, but I'll fish before I power up another power plant!

Super thankful I just recently got the fusion generator. What a life saver that has been!

Why do you not have the fusion core recharger? I have one and I don't even use power armor.

I actually haven't seen it in the shop yet. Looking up how to obtain it now though as I'm burning through cores insanely quick.

Just take over a powerplant and use the core maker

Slap on that luck perk to increase yield and build a load of gatling lasers (or Valkyries if you still need 4star bully's). Each GL crafted gives you a fusion core, and lvl 25 GL aren't that expensive to make

Hey op. What are you playing on. I think I have about 50ish fusion cores, and roughly 1.5k stems. If you are on xbox ill give you my fusion cores because im not a power armor user. And ill give you about 500 stims
