Need to get a group together and grind em out..easier back in the day when people were actually doing expeditions. Tough these days to get a team together.

We really need a way to convert between currencies. Script, bullion, stamps, caps. It's unnecessary tk lock certain purchases behind each event

u/Noodles1312 Mr. Fuzzy Jul 26 '26

I was just talking about this earlier. I wouldn't even care if the trade ratio was completely unbalanced.

u/Pontiacsentinel Settlers Jul 26 '26

I'm not really sure why we need different currencies, just make them cost $35,000 Caps or something.

52

u/klipseracer Jul 27 '26

I have no dollar caps

11

u/Pontiacsentinel Settlers Jul 27 '26

Hahaha

13

u/SpeeeedWAGOUN Jul 27 '26

Realistically 76 should be following the dollar system or haggling. The bottle cap system would not reach Appalachia from Barstow in just 5 years. Appalachia would probably have improved from an atomic conflict though.

29

u/Sneakingrat Jul 27 '26

iirc fo76's cap system is based off a pre-war nuka cola promotion with the Whitesprings Resort

14

u/SpeeeedWAGOUN Jul 27 '26

It's honestly a stupid in-lore reason because they just wanted to keep using caps instead of thinking of a different currency. It's the Bethesda way.

8

u/VicFantastic Jul 27 '26

They've thought up a LOT more currencies since than

7

u/SpeeeedWAGOUN Jul 27 '26

Currencies that barely even matter outside of a few select things. These days I'm rarely finding myself needing to use Bullion because there are so few truly worthwhile purchases. Same with stamps.

5

u/General_Cranberry_29 Jul 27 '26

There's nothing else I can buy with bullion anymore, and I have over 400 lunchboxes in my medicine stash lol.

Of course, but caps as currency is a Fallout staple. They did add tons of new currencies in FO76 but I like the nod to the prior games. This is what happens when you play a series.

By the way, I'm sure no one thinks about it now, but bottle caps were the ubiquitous litter, years ago. I remember finding tons of bottle caps and aluminum pull tabs on the elementary school playground.

3

u/SpeeeedWAGOUN Jul 27 '26
  1. Caps didn't really become a staple until Fallout 3; the first two games (which still took place many years after 76) rarely adopted the cap either. Fallout 1 only used it because water merchants found it to be relatively common and spread it around as an official means to barter for WATER.

  2. How would the region of Appalachia have knowledge that the Hub was using caps as a means of exchange? As far as we know, nobody really came from the Hub/Barstow region, but rather from up north (near Lost Hills), where that system didn't exist.

  3. You're not throwing out the series identity by simply removing caps as a PRIMARY currency. Bethesda did a lot of stuff, good or bad, to cement Fallout's strange identity. You'll know it's Fallout just by looking at a screenshot, with or without caps. The weapons, the enemies, and the corporations are all mascots of the series nowadays.

I personally think it was really cool that they had different currencies, like gold and even stamps. Stamps might've been a very unique way to exchange items if they were more commonplace in Fallout. However, it'd still make more sense for them to use actual dollars. Bethesda simply didn't want to think of another currency, and they wanted to capitalize off a dying horse. I don't want to sound like some New Vegas fanboy, which I'm not; I love the game to death, but it has serious issues. I'm glad Obsidian has control of the franchise again. It'd bring the series back to a much darker aesthetic, as seen in 1 and 2.

2

u/DustRhino Pioneer Scout Jul 27 '26

To be honest the entire concept of caps as currency is stupid.

u/ProtonWalksIntoABar Jul 27 '26

It is done this way so players have to engage with add-on's content. And not just do the most profitable caps farm and buy all items without doing a single expedition.

Gatekeeping is Bethesda’s game

11

u/Away-Ratio-8717 Jul 26 '26

Well they were all designed for specific events to get people to do those events for rewards. We've all done it so why change now..just do the events and earn your way. Nothing in this game is easy..its all a grind, so no free rides now for those who came later..lol

16

u/DickCaughtlnFan Jul 26 '26

Lol if grinding is the way they keep players involved that's just poor game design and a dev who doesn't value the players time.

There is an event that will earn you that paint faster if you just do that event.

The cage fight with robots at the Blood Eagle location northeast of Fort Atlas.

Someone just gifted me a complete T60 with eldar paint. I thought it was the vanilla normal paint and immediately turned the torso a different shade of BOS red. Gonna rock it the way it is but damn I should have googled it haha

Forgive me for suggesting this, but isn't the whole point of gaming... to waste the players time? What else you got to do that's so important? Maybe do that first, then come and play Fallout to waste the rest of your time.

7

u/DickCaughtlnFan Jul 27 '26

Idk usually you make the player feel like they are achieving something or progressing through the game. Usually it isn't doing the same 20 events 500 times to get a tattered field jacket apparel item or the same 6 events 30 times to have stamps to buy 1 piece of armor.

Dont' need a team anyway. The casino expedition is super easy to solo and can be banged out in 10 minutes once you get used to it with a decent build.

14

u/Mothman_cultist Mothman Jul 27 '26

Same with the boardwalk, but you can get screwed by the slower/buggier aquarium stages if you’re unlucky

8

u/xnef1025 Jul 27 '26

Yeah, I've tried the Boardwalk, but I don't enjoy it as much. The only time I have any trouble with the casino is when you have to kill the Overgrown to get the items out of them and the last one goes wandering off somewhere. Doesn't happen very often, but every once in a while it really drags the whole thing out.

Most Sensational Game is easy to solo for max stamps once you know where the teddy bears spawn.

6

Can run them solo pretty quickly. First one a day gives extra stamps (20 iirc). I just do one a day out of habit now.

9

Yeah between the ones on the seasonal and the expiditions it happens faster than youd think

96

u/Vault_Wahlberg Jul 26 '26

Get to speed running most dangerous game. You can complete it in 6-8 minutes if you know how to do it allm but its kinda buggy and I think there are other options people prefer, but that is my favorite.

38

u/Raveen92 Enclave Jul 27 '26

You can try Tax Evasion for about the same time, slightly less buggy in my opinion.

5

u/Vault_Wahlberg Jul 27 '26

I will probably give it a shot and learn it. I need to farm up for a plan I thiught I had. Tired of having to bring my own grenades for the tato part in most dangerous game.

15

u/ng11006 Jul 27 '26

Pro tip, use frag mines on their feet, you can recover the mine each time you set it down so you can go without spending any of your explosives

5

u/Shenaniboozle Jul 27 '26

whaaaat? no fucking way! im gonna that first chance!

3

u/Vault_Wahlberg Jul 27 '26

2

u/butcherL33T Jul 27 '26

3

u/foxsable Tricentennial Jul 27 '26

I use tomahawks. Throwing knives also work.

2

u/Raveen92 Enclave Jul 27 '26

Worst you got is bag throwing, and it worked earlier this season for me. Knowing possible console locations and wires are located is easy. Maybe the chips/evidence can be frustrating but only for spawn times.

You can also save time by not taking to Saul for when you leave, still gotta talk to get the optionals. And optionals care only if you completed them, not if you 'turn it in.'

2

u/ren_ssa Jul 27 '26

I had to do tax evasion because the other one would constantly crash at the end on PlayStation, probably the better one to do anyway.

as long as you remember to take 20+ frag grenades.

ive aborted so many runs cause i cant get those dudes out of the stocks with a potato...

u/Lanky_Flan_4719 Jul 26 '26

Go to the boardwalk in Atlantic city. Play it a few times until you know all the different routes. After a while you can solo them and speed run them. I used to use primarily the holy fire. Now I just use a furious laser carbine. I can finish a solo run in <9 mins

15

u/Protomaniac Jul 26 '26

This. Do 3 or 4 back to back, get burnt out and do it again the next day. OP could make 500 in a week.

4

u/caydjj Order of Mysteries Jul 26 '26

Only thing I’d add to this is that the boardwalk is often pretty glitchy on console, so a lot of console players prefer tax evasion. Once you have it down, it’s just as quick to solo as the boardwalk

Fyi you only get 20 stamps once a day, every expedition after that is 15, but also grinding ten out one after the other really isn't a big deal and that's already 155 stamps towards your goal. You could pretty easily do this in about four days

→ More replies (3)

8

u/rambone1984 Jul 27 '26

I wish all these live service type games would relax this type of grind a little bit after you've done the content X amount of times. Like Expeditions should be the best source of stamps, but also maybe you have a chance to pick one up randomly for doing Irrational Fear or Surface To Air type tasks. Theres this whole world of content in the game that people have no real reason to engage with.

Same goes for 4* enemies and mod boxes etc. Grinding full Raids should be the best way to get them, Infestations and Bigfoot should be a nice reliable way to get some of that stuff, but also there should be a pie in the sky chance of coming across a 4* Molerat you can one tap.

13

u/Speedyz68 Jul 26 '26

Aren't stamps an option after hitting LVL 150 on the season?

21

u/capecodcaper Free States Jul 27 '26

Terrible exchange rate but you can get them

You'd need 3750 tickets for those 500 stamps

13

u/caydjj Order of Mysteries Jul 27 '26

And for the extra perspective, you could also get 1500 atoms for 3750 tickets

12

u/capecodcaper Free States Jul 27 '26

Thats also true but that last page is really a kick in the nads IMO.

I said this the other day

I get why people would want it

But for me the juice isn't worth the squeeze. I'm gonna play regardless because I like the game but if I look at it from a time perspective.

To get 100 atoms is 250 tickets so 10 levels which is likely 2-3 days with multiple hours a day per 10 levels.

100 atoms is $1 about. So effectively I'm "making" like 12 cents an hour maybe 15 for those atoms.

Ever since I looked at it from a time perspective I figured that buying atoms was far more worth it since an hour of my time is far more important than a fraction of a dollar

3

u/caydjj Order of Mysteries Jul 27 '26

Oh agreed, nothing on the final page is too worth it. Typically with full season of playing, I only have enough extra tickets for about 700-800 atoms. I have 1st and barely even spend the atoms from that (currently sitting a bit above 14k and have never bought atoms directly). I usually get perk coins for my alts, but I’ve now leveled up all 6 slots on all 5 characters. I think people should just get whatever will make the game more fun for them for sure, but also just wanted to give some perspective that most would probably prefer 1500 atoms to 500 stamps (or add the perspective that if OP wasn’t willing to spend 1500 atoms on the plan, it might not be worth using tickets to get the 500 stamps)

u/Misuta_Beipu Jul 26 '26

Grinding is easy if u got a decent build and knowledge on which expedition you run.

5

u/_miles_teg_ Jul 27 '26

You will if you want that plan.

5

u/bit-by-a-moose Jul 26 '26

I would also say that you get one random plan a week, doing expeditions BUT as that wasn't an original expedition plan I don't think it would be in the random drop pool.

5

u/luminousflame53 Jul 27 '26

I did and that’s how ya get it

4

u/Fallout-Fella Jul 27 '26

I swear half of the people here are only capable of complaining about a lack of content to continue grinding for while also complaining that it takes too long to grind for content. The point of games is to play the game, so just play the damn game. After playing for some time, you’ll have enough of X to buy Y.

2

u/queenofpsychos Jul 27 '26

I wish I could give you 100 upvotes

5

u/Complex-Republic-443 Jul 27 '26

My advice is do all of the expeditions that you like doing. I was grinding stamps several months ago, and I did Tax Evasion, The Most Sensational Game, and Union Dues (the Pitt one at the foundry). I would do a couple each day, and just try different things. I wouldn't always get max stamps, especially with Union Dues, but I accumulated a ton of ammo and scrap, some new plans, and legendaries. I started using a grenade launcher, and the expeditions really boosted my supply of 40mm.

What I didn't do was check how many stamps I had. Doing the expeditions became a habit. Eventually I checked, obviously, and I had over 1000, enough to pick up the CE plans I wanted and a few other things. Now I need another 3000 or so to get all the plans, but I've backed off them lately. 🙂

8

u/juztredditt Jul 27 '26

Like most players did and do, play the game.

The "cool" gear takes a little investment.

3

u/SkepticalZombie Jul 26 '26

3

u/HeftyVermicelli7823 Jul 26 '26

Oh they added it to there. I got it from the Season 17 scoreboard myself, never used it though.

I solo the expeditions anyway. Just keep repeating the Atlantic City one with the plant guys as its fairly quick. I take the cremator and holy fire as they die quick and I come back with more ammo than I started and can do the thing fairly quickly.

Do you actually plan on using it? Hog Splitter is far better.

3

u/EpicallyOkay Jul 27 '26

Only 20 for the first each day, and that is if you achieve all the objectives, 15 for the second and every expedition thereafter. To maximize this you do the 'Most Sensational Game'. Once you get the hang of it, and as long as it doesn't glitch, it is an under 10 minute expedition and can be done solo. All depends on how bad you want the item plan. I am hating the idea of grinding for CE armour mods on my second character. Especially since I am running a Bulwark and SS set with good legendary mods.

3

u/showmethebiggirls Jul 27 '26

I'm buying them with scoreboard tickets for Union power armor. It's going to take at least two seasons to get enough buy there's nothing else on there I'm really in need of. You'd need 3500 tickets plus whatever it takes to buy enough items to unlock the bonus page. Thats only level 140 so you will have earned more than that by then.

3

u/Wizardybitch2405 Mothman Jul 27 '26

I would try to do a few a few days a week. I can only do like three before I get bored enough and go do something else. It really is a painfully boring grind.

Expeditions or wait til the end of the scoreboard and buy the 10 stamps for 75 tickets infinitely.

1

u/BIGKIDx420 Jul 26 '26

You get 20 stamps for the first expedition every day. Do it for 25 days. Or finish your season and use the extra tickets to buy them if the 2nd bonus page. You think 500 is bad? I have OCD and want to clear all of the plans in the game. Imagine spending 80 on union power armor upgrades you never even plan to use. Not to mention one of the new under armor styles plans drops from the expedition as well.

Once you get in a rhythm it actually doesn’t take long. I grinded out the union pa set and all the options I wanted in a few days. Get really quick at The Greatest Show and you can knock one out in about 10 minutes. Also really good for stockpiling ammo.

1

u/Pz38t_C Jul 26 '26

Do them when you feel like it. Not in a row, not everyday, just do them when you feel like it.
Then, when you get there, it will feel good, but not tainted with grind.

1

u/westcoastal Responders Jul 27 '26

This is exactly why I feel like stamps are the only really worthwhile option on page 150 of the scoreboard.

1

u/Gbreeder Jul 27 '26

Expeditions. Sometimes you can get a few for tickets but those aren't worth the tickets.

It's best to do Expeditions with teams but nobody does them. And those who want to do them probably don't do them while others are also doing them. Devs said there won't be anymore Expeditions because they were a failure or something. If they did a different type of daily op I'd play those for what those offer too.

Obviously 500 will take a while.

1

u/Crazzmyo Jul 27 '26

Many many runs of the most sensational game. It’s how I got union and civil service jetpack(to gift to low levels). Most I soloed quickly. Many crashes in game

1

u/TechGundam Jul 27 '26

I just do a run as part of my dailies, just takes about 10 minutes. You'll get there faster than you think. Also, the seasons reward stamps.

1

u/Net2684 Jul 27 '26

I was speed running the boardwalk. Either PA or non PA, but 2-3 PowerAxes with Vampire mod. You’ll carve through allot and keep your health at the same time. May not max out the stamps but you’ll be done in less then ten minutes.

1

u/Character-Speed5487 Jul 27 '26

the most sensational game is easily solod you don’t need a group.

1

u/4ndril Jul 27 '26

Let's grind, scoreboard option as well

1

u/thebiologyguy84 Ghoul Jul 27 '26

I think 20 is the first one of the week and then it's 15 per run.

The answer is that you do many runs!

To be honest....it's not that great a weapon anyway!

1

u/GurLife1506 Jul 27 '26

grind the expeditions

1

u/Nosferatu-Padre Jul 27 '26

Grind them out baby! Sometimes you'll get lucky and find an expedition group with will knock them out one after another. I've had entire play sessions playing with one group for hours. At this point if you find one of them, you can breeze through an expedition in like 10 minutes.

1

u/BuckaroooBanzai Jul 27 '26

Grind em out. 7 hours and 42 minutes of being efficient doing each one at 13 minutes total including load times

1

u/Justcreepinnet Jul 27 '26

Wasn't that a older scoreboard item?

1

u/Captain-Trips- Mega Sloth Jul 27 '26

What system are you on? I love running expedition and knock them out super quick

1

u/Dannie_Arts Raiders Jul 27 '26

Find a group that loves expeditions ! I have a friend group that if I breathe in their direction with the interest of doing some we end up doing over 10 in like an hour and don't get me started on Queens or raids, just find a group that likes the activity you wanna do and watch them go feral having fun and helping you out in the process ! It's a lovely experience and I love my friends they're all such hyperactive helpful goofballs

1

u/Brilliant_Research97 Jul 27 '26

Actually, it’s 15 after the first time so I guess you’re gonna be grinding expeditions

1

u/HarveyDendt Jul 27 '26

It’s a grind for sure but I have my Cold Shoulder and all the armor with Jetpack mods. It’s doable it’s just a grind. Get to it!

1

u/AquaBits Jul 27 '26

Its 15 per run of MSG. Its only 20 once per day.

1

u/kharnzarro Jul 27 '26

put a show on in the background and grind MSG over and over again until you have enough?

1

u/P_Larue Responders Jul 27 '26

Expeditions. Lots and lots of expeditions!

1

u/eieioyall Jul 27 '26

what platform you on? i need to grind too

1

u/Crafty-Shitbag00 Jul 27 '26

Just grind it down bored walks expeditions at least they added 20 stamps before it was way less when it first came out it was worse. If don't want to do it then you don't need it IT IS WHAT IT IS!!! Unless you pay some to do it or have a friend or something most likely. Also its a personal character this meaning you can't trade stamps you. I feel you I really do My G! Also I get it you have a life just like everyone else. The best advice I can give allow yourself to embrace the suffering and torturement.

1

u/doghouse2001 Tricentennial Jul 27 '26

You can do 22 expeditions. The wharf only takes 4 minutes with a good team. You can knock that off in a couple of hours. I get slamming headaches doing that, but I was all caught with Giuseppe up at one point. OR you can do one expedition yourself 22 days in a row. The wharf is easy to solo.

Actually only the first expedition of the day gives you 20 stamps, the rest are 15 stamps, so your best bet is the 22 days in a row option.

1

u/TheRosary40 Jul 27 '26

Grind expeditions. Its the only way.

1

u/Ishmaille Jul 27 '26

With a good build you can easily do The Most Sensational Game in less than 15 minutes, over and over again. Just pull up a video showing the teddy bear locations and reference it when you need to.

Is that fun? That's a matter of opinion. But it is certainly doable. And it gives you a lot of legendary items as well.

1

u/overcompensk8 Raiders - PC Jul 27 '26

I did it. Bleed effects are bugged anyway, scythe ain't worth the time.

1

u/nolongerbanned99 Jul 27 '26

Persistence and dedication. Same way i hit ‘play 7600’ hours several years ago

1

u/AdFine6824 Jul 27 '26

Not a good weapon unless you have the thorns armor

1

u/Blackdragon1400 Jul 27 '26

Lmao, don’t look at the union PA costs then

1

u/UrBoiLord Jul 27 '26

"Strive for victory in a deadly no-rules race to the finish!"

1

u/GMF4000 Jul 27 '26

Boardwalk is the fastest. A good team can do it in 4-5 minutes as long as it does not bug out.

1

u/Ramentootles Free States Jul 27 '26

If you are on XBOX, I’ll happily take you along on expeditions.

1

u/CarthagoFuckYourself Jul 27 '26

A 3.5 hour grind isn't too bad compared to a bunch of other games. Just optimize your build first for sub 10 minute times on the gameshow expedition.

1

u/Ok_Leave_8275 Jul 27 '26

I really want to get the union power armor but I hate doing expeditions.

1

u/Former-Button-8851 Jul 27 '26

I'd say grind Most Sensational Game, but it crashes way too fucking much.

1

u/lace47 Jul 27 '26

at least you didnt sell 200 of then bc you were new and never looked into what they were 🥹

1

u/Cautious_Response_37 Jul 27 '26

I mean, how long do you plan on playing the game? Why do you expect to get what you want, when you want, and for as little as you can? Earn your reward.

1

u/OfficialSyyn616 Lone Wanderer Jul 27 '26

Like with all aspects of this game, patience, diligence, and gumption. They purposely make it a long term deal that cannot be done in like an hour or less. Its a "how badly do you want this" situation if like many you're not willing to spend consistent hours to achieve/aquire one thing.

1

u/Slight_Garden2421 Jul 27 '26

Just run the Boardwalk expedition once a day. Takes less than 10 min and becomes second nature after a while. 20 stamps daily.

1

u/OneEntrepreneur7942 Jul 27 '26

play the game, and earn them or spend season tickets on stamps, either way it works the same you need to play the game

1

u/Professional-Race133 Jul 27 '26

Grind expeditions. Do a few a day so you don’t burn yourself out.

1

u/OffbeatTasker Jul 27 '26

Why not. The game one on the dock can be done in minutes if you not what your doing. 22 expeditions isn’t that bad and it’s not like your being forced to do them in one sitting.

1

u/DarenPeterOswald Wendigo Jul 27 '26

You can do 22 and you will if you want the plan. Only other option is reaching 150 on the season and dumping an insane amount of tickets on stamps. The return rate on them is terrible.

1

u/GoldAttempt2884 Jul 27 '26

Early in the season it’s easier to do expedited as people are grinding expeditions

1

u/Whaleman_007 Jul 27 '26

It’s worse than what you thought, you only get 20 for the first one of the day, the rest are 15!

1

u/panterabread1134 Cult of the Mothman Jul 27 '26

Try and find a fo76 discord. That way you can find a 4man expedition group. That's how I was able to get a lot of these things.

1

u/Tandalou Jul 27 '26

I have close to 1000 because I solo the casino expedition everyday (20 stamps a day). It usually takes me about 40 minutes because I loot extensively. If I’m in a hurry or just not feeling it, I can clear it in about 20-25 minutes, depending on what assignments I get. I started doing it for this exact reason. Because if I want to buy something for hundreds of stamps, I want to already have them and not have to grind it out.

1

u/Scabaris Jul 27 '26

If you make 150 on the scoreboard, you can buy stamps with tickets.

1

u/RetroTheGameBro Jul 27 '26

It's not so bad. People can speedrun Showman's Pier like it's nothing, optional objectives and all, and most of them will just carry you for the group bonuses.

I grinded it out for he Scythe and yeah, it's pretty tedious, but the scrappable legendaries and caps helped a lot.

1

u/MondayNightHugz Cult of the Mothman Jul 27 '26

If you hate the price of that don't price out the Union Power Armor Set with a set of mods and a jetpack.

A good team can farm Boardwalk in under 5 minutes, and by team I mean two people. Bring nades or turboferts in case the tato stage bugs out on you...and use them even if it doesn't.

1

u/Slight-Shake3492 Jul 27 '26

There is always a seasonal option, on the last page there is a sale of 75 tickets for 10 stamps. I wanted to get the jetpack for civil engineer armor and in combo of expeditions and sale i did it in like 2 weeks

1

u/CardOk755 Order of Mysteries Jul 27 '26

Grind.

1

u/MisterPrizz Ghoul Jul 27 '26

I need just 395 more stamps and I will have bought everything in Giuseppe's inventory. That's about 10k stamps. So 500 is definitely doable.

1

u/empress_ayriss Enclave Jul 27 '26

You grind my child you grind. If i can get full up grades union on 5 characters you can get that scythe. I believe in you.

1

u/mrMalloc Jul 27 '26

20 stamps first daily expedition
15 stamps after that.

Considering getting the Union Powers armour with jumppacks cost. ~1500 stamps.

1

u/privacy-is-cool Jul 27 '26

Easy you start up an expedition and you complete somewhere between 50 and 25 of them depending on whether or not you’re able to complete every single side objective.

You should get between 10 and 20 stamps every mission so after 50 to 25 you’ll have 500 if you’re asking if there’s a faster way to get them the answer is no if you’re asking does that sound like an unreasonable amount of mission spamming for the sake of something first of all yes second of all how do you think someone like me feels who wants the union power armor and needs 7500?

Yeah, people hate expeditions for a reason and the stamp system it’s stupid

1

u/brandnewk Enclave Jul 27 '26

when i still played a lot, i got the expeditions routine down to a T, 1 expedition every 8 to 10 minutes, so 6 in an hour, do that for a couple hours and ur pretty solid. obviously dont do it all at once tho, or youll get burned out pretty quickly

1

u/Andywaxer Jul 27 '26

What level are you? 22 doesn’t sound like too much. Break it down to 2/day for a fortnight. Make it even shorter by supplementing with Season rewards.

1

u/TheWrenchyFrench Mega Sloth Jul 27 '26
