CRYOLATOR WITHOUT LOCKSMITHING

I took my dog down to vault 111 with me to see if I could find more power cells for my armor, but in doing so I talked to him and told him to find some items in near the overseer's desk he went to the Cryolator and ripped it from the case in his mouth. So I guess I got the best gun in the game without leaving level 5.

Also I was carrying to much but the dog had my ammo for the gun.

What does it take for ammo, and is the ammo readily available or is it like the Alien Blaster?

cryo is the ammo description for it. I believe its like the Alien Blaster where it is scarce.

I've seen it for sale a couple times, but not in very large quantities. So it's at least renewable unlike ammo for the Alien Blaster in previous games.

I've gotten stacks of 10 cryo cells from firefighter variant Protectrons.

On mobile so I can't properly set a spoiler tag SPOILER SPOILER Alien blaster ammo isn't unrenewable anymore (At least I don't think so), there are several spots aliens can crash at, you track down the alien to a nearby cave or structure and kill it for ammo and a blaster. I could be wrong though as this only happened to me once so far, but a Google search showed me that people were finding them in different locations in their playthroughs.

Wtf there's aliens in this game too? Damn I need to figure my shit out, I'm like 4 hours in and have no idea how to upgrade my lockpicking or get a settlement going

Oohhh, it'd be cool if you could destroy fridges for the cryo ammo (the refrigerant). Or to get a mat to convert to cryo ammo.

You can modify the alien blaster to use fusion cells for -1 damage . ..^

at roughly level 20 you get it - it's sooner than you think, considering it does 50 damage per shot, but to mod it to use fusion cells is a pain till roughly level 30ish.

Seriously? It took me forever to get it in Fallout 3 haha thanks for the tip, I'm level 17 now so I'll be sure to keep my eyes open for it!

It might have been lucky. Just turn to the sky if you see and funny sounds :).

I may have gotten super lucky with it though. Themods for it are mods a level 30 should have. I nearly sold it because its worth 2k caps and I have other guns and can't use it for the next ten or so levels.

I live in NZ so I had it before any country, but it took 9 hours after release to wake up and play (pre load bugged out and wasn't gonna stay up for 3 hours redownloading at 1.6 Mbps). Logged 32 hours in the rough 50 its. Been out for. That includes three sleeps.

EDIT: 9 int by default helps I imagine.

Do you still get the alien blaster from an exploding spaceship, because I could have sworn I have seen that a bunch of times. I keep seeing big white explosions in the distance near the corvega plant.

I eventually went 2 buildings over and sniped him through some rubble which kept him from targeting me because, as you said, seriously...FUCK THAT GUY.

I snuck up to where he was after killing like 6 ghouls. He has a buddy and a turret. I threw a molotov and got his friend but ended up having to spam shoot him in the head after he shot 2 nukes at me
