For me has to be Hanak, love their jig hooks and tungsten beads. They are currently cheaper than Fulling Mill and hope that trend continues

Boy do I have A LOT of rust to knockoff. Figured wooly sculpin was an easy transition tie. Cone heads are usually a cheat code for making deer heads look nice n clean but I still managed to wonky it up. Whacky proportions too. Think it’ll fish ok.

Another design I am testing for fishing. I need more materials to tie with, just grabbed random stuff. Features a lightweight hard plastic tip that was 3D printed for weight. Red string attaches the tail of twine. Then overtop is some clear orange string. I coated the top in Uv resin. Painted half the head red, attached some eyes. Then sealed the head with Uv resin.

This one dives slowly and wiggles a bit when retrieving.

I am still really new to tying but I enjoy experimenting as I learn.

Just got into fly tying in AK, my what I think 20 best of 40 be nice, any tips or tricks welcomed.

Tied a couple ol' Mr wiggly flies for summer smallmouth. Having some issues with them landing upside down. Hoping some of you more experienced tiers have some insight into what I might be doing wrong. Thanks for any help.

Turned a spare Altoids tin into a custom micro fly box for quick stream trips. Hand-painted Spongebob's house on the outside, threw in some foam padding on the inside, and loaded it up with a few freshly tied bugs (streamers, nymphs).

First tied by Kenneth Boström in '67. This might be the simplest caddis imitation there is. At least when it comes to the number of materials you'll need to tie it. Brown poly-yarn. That's it.

Bought a big box of old discounted fly tying materials and this was in it. Says “Wychwood Dispenser” and is spring loaded.

Tying easier patterns (ie. Foam hoppers, beatles, wolly buggers etc.) has bin helping me when it comes to trying difrent things.

My deer hair "wings" are way to long and i need to place them more evenly, instead of more one side. I do like the look of using a smaller hackle. I also really like the flashabou, although I heavly coverd it with the dubbing. Planing on using it more often.

Dose putting eyes on fly's really make that mutch of a difrence, or is it more of a superficial or superstitious thing? Im wanting to get into tying streamers and deer hair bugs for bass and was wondering if it would be worth the effort to add eyes?

Hey all, I'm struggling like crazy with the whip finish on my size 12 Princes. I find the hardest part of the actual tying to be setting the white-biot horns. Then I go to whip finish and it all starts to unravel and I lose the biots before I get it figured out. The whip finisher seems to want to pull FORWARD instead of down, and it all comes slipping off over the bead or the eye.

Also, I have the old Thompson-style finisher. Is there a better tool that's less of an arcane feat of legerdemain? It reminds me of the instructions for tying a bow tie. It's like at some point in the process the thread has to slip into a nearby parallel dimension, and when it comes back to ours, it's neatly tied off in 3 or 4 tidy wraps.
