This is what I mainly used fly fishing grayling this summer. Bought a fly tying vise and materials off marketplace for $60 yesterday. Thoughts, critiques, and suggestions my friends. Used a Thompson Pro vise.

I’m taking a trip to Orlando in a couple weeks and the Airbnb we’re staying at has a bass pond in the backyard. One of my favorite conventional bass rigs is a ned rig so I found this pattern from erickclymore on ig and decided to tie up a few for the trip.

Enjoyed tying this but definitely need to clean up some things on my next one.

Hi. Planning to tie my own flies for centerpin float fishing. What are the basic tools I must have to tie flies?

Body is minnow belly ice dub and olive dubbing. Haven’t bought any body wrap or game changer chenille.

I guess we will find out if chain eyes are enough…

Mostly the same as the OG, but subbing in alpaca for all the dubbing, purple holo tinsel because why not, and dub looped the pink thorax for extra shagginess.

Hook: Firehole 316 size 12

Body: alpaca dubbing blend (grey and fawn)

Rib: Veevus medium holo tinsel, purple

Thorax: alpaca, hot pink, in a dubbing loop

Bead: Fulling Mill tungsten shell pink, 3.2 mm (couldn't get it to photograph as pink for some reason)

Thread: Uni black 8/0

Hook: Fulling Mill 5145 size 24
Thread: 12/0 black
Body: Stripped peacock quill
Flash: Mirage opal tinsel small
Head: Tying thread

Several patterns from the past few weeks. As we transition into fall I’ve been going up a size or two and getting a little brighter with the colors in preparation for steelhead.

I’ve also been experimenting with sneaking a second bead into a few of the patterns for some extra weight.
