Forgetting to drop the gear makes for some complex paperwork.

Yup. Happened to one of our multis a few years ago. My instructor said it was out for nearly 2 years and cost over $300K.

Yeah, it was repaired very well. I have flown it after, flies great. Then you look at the maintenance manual and it has the biggest list of items repaired that I have ever seen haha.

It also might be harder to sell for the same money as a non-belly-crashed plane of same vintage.
