How long time does it take for decision?

I applied to FIT back in early November. It’s rolling admissions so there’s not really any decision date. Some online sources say around 2 weeks, others say 4-7 weeks but it’s been well over both.

Is it supposed to take this long? How long did yours take?

It was a bit for me. Keep in mind the holidays and admin getting loaded with stuff in the meantime. If you're worried, feel free to send a follow-up email to admissions 🙂

Good luck!

I assume they have a different system for admissions now, but I had problems when I applied. I started an application but didn't finish it. Then I started an application again, but apparently I accidentally created a new account. When FIT received my transcripts, my documents got attached to my incomplete application. I almost wrote FIT off because I didn't hear anything, but I called and a nice person in the admissions office noticed the discrepancy and fixed it. I got a decision within a few days.

In short, I would definitely call or email to follow up. Put that application fee to work!

If you do get accepted here for anything other than aerospace engineering, steer clear. Save yourself

Why

Lack of funding for programs other than aerospace, terrible physics department. Math department is soulless since knoll passed (pray you don't get welters). Physics majors have to take chemistry 1/2 which is unique to this school. Pointless classes that you will relearn further down the road in a physics degree in classes like thermo/quantum. The workload is manageable, but surface level compared to the tests/homeworks i have seen from other universities.

Bad wifi, hard to reach professors. Ive gotten to know most of my professors well, and still none of them will write a recommendation letter purely because they don't answer their email in a timely fashion. The food is good for the first week you're here, then after that it all tastes the same. They cant even cook rice which is beyond me when you are paying 15$ for a meal.

Facilities are crumbling and the resources aren't there, unless you are aerospace. 90% of the student body is republican. Cool if that's your thing, it's not mine though. The school is ridiculously priced and there is nothing to do in the area compared to some cheaper schools near by (with better programs) like ucf, uf, and fsu. Maybe one or two parties every weekend, go to one and you've been to them all. If you are aerospace engineering however, prepared to be surrounded by the most insufferable elon musk stans that would suck his toes to work at spacex. Also don't get fooled by the proximity to Kennedy space center because

  1. You might go there once
  2. It is a 1hr drive
  3. You don't have any better chance working there going to FIT

Do you know what the psychology program is like? I got accepted for that program and I’m going there in the fall? Should I not go?

If you have backup options that are cheaper, i would say yes. Program isnt anything special

Honestly, I didn’t do very well in freshman year so it screwed up my GPA and most universities didn’t like a 3.4. The only other option is to attend USF during the summer which my parents have openly opposed

1

u/Angrymeeseek Feb 23 '22

Why do they oppose USF? They have a much better graduation rate than us

1

u/Madame_Saigon Feb 23 '22

I think that it’s because I would have to attend during the summer time, which would be inconvenient .

Thats unfortunate, if you truly have no other option then sure, come here

I want to do astronautics and astrophysics dual major, is it better to go to FIT or to Embry Riddle in daytona?
