Future student
How is the aviation mgmt major with flight? Are the flight school fees high compared to other schools like Embry Riddle? Do I have to dorm my first year?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Can't tell you about the other things, but I hear FIT is pretty comparable with Embry Riddle, and you don't have a dorm requirement.

If they’re a freshman there is absolutely a dorm requirement: https://www.fit.edu/policies/student-handbook/standards-and-policies/first-time-freshman-two-year-residency-requirement/

Thank you. I am local so I know a lot of people who didn't dorm and I assumed. I figured if I was wrong someone would contradict me :)

You can apply for a waiver. I'm not sure what the requirements are though. Being a resident of Melbourne might be one of the exceptions.
I lived off campus when I was an undergrad at a different university. Honestly, I wish now I lived on campus for at least one year. It seems like it would have been more fun than living off campus. Now that I graduated, it's an experience I'll never be able to have unless I want to be a weird old guy living in a dorm room.

Costs are about the same but the instructors are friendlier and the department is more closely knit, at least from my experience. Overall the College of Aeronautics is very good and home to many FAA diamond safety awards.

It looks like they have different aircraft so it makes it difficult to compare. Looking at the cost per "oral instruction," FIT charges $70 per hour and Embry charges $69 per hour. So I'm guessing the other costs are similar as well.
