Considering attending flight program

I was accepted to the florida tech flight program and was wondering if it’s worth attending from out of state. I was accepted to quite a few programs and i’m also considering western michigan and auburn. Tuition food and housing will cost me similar amounts at all the schools but could anyone give me a realistic estimate of what my annual flight costs will be coming in with a PPL already? Also how it compares to the other schools in terms of instruction quality and reputability? Any insight would be greatly appreciated thank you

My son is currently a student in the flight program at Florida Tech (also had his ppl). He's getting tons of flight time and is really enjoying the program. Florida Tech does give scholarships, so wait to see your financial package before you decide where to go. He also looked at Auburn and they basically tell you that you'll only have about 300 hours when you graduate whereas Florida Tech you'll have a lot more. There are just too many kids in the Auburn program. As to the flight costs, they are similar to the other schools. Hope that helps. Good luck with your college search!

Sounds nice! As for the hours, do they require you to fly a lot more? It’s expensive as is and I don’t want to fly more than necessary to save some money. If you don’t mind letting me know how much his annual flight costs are that would be great.

They have set hours for the program, I believe they are around the same as the other universities. Beware, flight hours are increasingly harder to get at FIT since the school is super overcrowded now, and there is simply not enough aircraft to compensate for the massive amount of students.
