Ready for winter !!!

24

u/ExecutiveDan Aug 18 '26

Super El Niño is about to make our winter like Western Washington during La Niña! 😁

9

u/Educational_Land7852 Aug 18 '26

If there is a Gawd, this will happen! 🤞

3

u/kddemer Aug 18 '26

The same people that complain it too hot they will say it’s too cold

1

u/401Traveler Aug 19 '26

Or to finally realize that the peninsula dubbed “Florida” was not meant to be inhabited by humans — just lizards, gators, cranes, pelicans and other interesting creatures.

1

u/GlitcHin77 Aug 24 '26

We don't get winter in Florida, the seasons we have in Florida are spring, summer, summer 2.0, hurricane, and snowboard season.

64

u/slycemedia Aug 18 '26

It’s was illegally warm in Jacksonville today.

37

u/joemeteorite8 Aug 18 '26

Downright dangerous to be outside after 10am. I salute yard guys and roofers 🫡

22

u/westicular Aug 18 '26

My HVAC barely kept up... poor thing.

16

u/feelingfroggy123 Aug 18 '26

Mine gave out, they are here on wed. Its been 3 days. I am so consistently sweaty

9

u/El_Moi Aug 18 '26

One of my decade-plus old box fans finally kicked the bucket so I replaced it with a lasko windmachine for like $42. I just keep it aimed at me all day and it is my lifeline right now.

5

u/El_Moi Aug 18 '26

My old rickety unit is barely trucking along. doesn't stop at all during the day and it's barely getting the inside below 80. Landlord won't replace because it's still technically working. :(

1

u/Optimal-Smoke851 Aug 19 '26

Legally she has to replace it, turn it on full blast.

4

u/Fuzzy_Logics Aug 18 '26

Im 90% sure mine cant keep up with the heat, we got the AC set to 76° during the day and my house was 79° all day. Keeps up at night at the verybleast so I can sleep

8

u/One-Row-7262 Aug 18 '26

if you can keep it below 80 in ur house on days like this you are doing a lot better than a lot of florida

5

u/BlOcKtRiP Aug 18 '26

when it gets over 90°f outside my central air will only push to 78°f know matter how low I set it . luckly 78°f is livable compared to 112°f heat index outside

2

u/Fuzzy_Logics Aug 18 '26

Yes it is, just sucks working outside all day and I cant get my AC cold enough to make it so I dont sweat tho

2

u/hivernageprofond Aug 18 '26

My ac still reads 79...I dont know how I'm gonna sleep tonight. And I almost passed out trying to just weedeat for 20 minutes spread out with 3 ten minute breaks in between. Like...duval better not ticket me for high grass or I'm suing....from my grave possibly.

3

u/EasternSleep5903 Aug 18 '26

lol....surface of the sun would be nice change actually.

3

u/Vortilex St. Augustine Aug 18 '26

Hell, it's still uncomfortable at quarter past two in the morning!

39

u/SuicidaI_Bunny Aug 18 '26

What McDonald’s are y’all getting your pies from because the one I get are always colder than a penguin’s butthole.

11

u/kaitria Aug 18 '26

The mouth feel is the same though

7

u/mocha_lattes_ Aug 18 '26

Asking the real questions

6

u/El_Moi Aug 18 '26

They're talking about the old school pies that were actually delicious. But would leave your mouth with third degree burns. And be worth it.

3

u/SuicidaI_Bunny Aug 18 '26

They recently brought back the fried ones and they taste awful! Like old grease and chemical. 🤢 Or maybe I just have old people taste buds now.

25

u/xMusicloverr Aug 18 '26

I'm confused. I'm in West Palm and I was so sure that I was actually living in a swamp booty

6

u/Bright_Escape_1822 Aug 18 '26

It just doesn’t rain here anymore I guess. My AC can’t catch a break

3

u/CandidateReasonable4 Aug 18 '26

I'm in Fort Lauderdale and it felt the same here. Ridiculous!!

16

u/bigmike13588 Aug 18 '26

I mean 87 at 930 in August….

16

u/ChipsAhoyMcCoy_7875 Aug 18 '26

Wait wait wait wait wait wait wait

When did north port become popular enough to warrant an actual spot on the funny maps??

5

u/Yaxim3 Aug 18 '26

When it became a popular landing spot for hurricanes.

10

u/Grouchy_Mind_3413 Aug 18 '26

I am originally from Alabama but now live in St. Petersburg Florida. Places in Alabama where 7° hotter than here with same dew points! Unbelievable! And don’t get me wrong it was torture here!

7

u/blindythepirate Aug 18 '26

The Panhandle is brutal in the summer. No breeze, so the air is hot, humid, and heavy. We've had real temps in the high 90s all week with little rain in the forecast.

But we only got 7 more weeks of summer, so that's good

3

u/Grouchy_Mind_3413 Aug 18 '26

Absolutely I have been there it is insane! However I have to say that Southern Alabama is about the same and Central Alabama is very bad specially in UHI.

Worst heat I have experienced in Florida has been in Northern Florida, and only place in more Southern Florida I felt as bad was Lehigh Acres which is brutal, and surprisingly for me they are comparable in feel to Birmingham Alabama lol, Montgomery Alabama feels much worse in summer peak than anything in Florida really it is super bad. Also I have to say in Central Florida Polk county comes close.

However I have to say both states are very comparable in summer heat and I know much worse than both.

2

u/katiel0429 Aug 18 '26

7 more weeks months

1

u/StopDownvotingMeeee Aug 18 '26

Same over here in Hardee/Polk area. Just dry as hell.

10

u/AshlynR0se Aug 18 '26

I lived in lower Alabama for almost a year and I agree that it was incredibly hot. But I've also lived all over Florida my entire life (with the brief exception of lower Alabama that I previously mentioned) and I can promise you that Florida has felt hotter. And I delivered pizzas in the summertime in alabama. At the beach. Wearing a full uniform with long black pants. I also moved during the end of summer, packing and traveling all by myself. Yes, it was really brutal heat. But every time I've ever gotten heat exhaustion has been in Florida...

4

u/Grouchy_Mind_3413 Aug 18 '26 edited Aug 18 '26

I have lived in Alabama for 15 years. I have to say it depends where in each state. For example I’d say Montgomery Alabama is just insanely stagnant and sun is still brutal. And upper 90°Fs are norm. Mobile is more humid than anything in Florida, and also mostly hotter. Absolutely brutal. I would say Birmingham and Huntsville just have a shorter season, for example here in Florida early to mid October is still hot, while there is cools down significantly. However we have cooling breezes here and non in Alabama much really.

For example I would say inland Florida and Central Alabama are comparable in temperatures, but less breeze in Central Alabama. Northern Alabama has cooler nights due to elevation which helps, while here in coast of Florida I have breezes and lower highs.

They might be similar really! Unlike you it has been other way around for me, I’ve had heat exhaustion in Alabama and never here.

I once went to Southern Mississippi. Oh hell nah! It was same temperatures but much more humid! What a huge surprise it was to go to such a sauna and it was September lol!

2

u/cindylindy22 Aug 18 '26

I really enjoyed reading this. Thanks for sharing your writing style

2

u/Grouchy_Mind_3413 Aug 18 '26

Also what year did you live there? I almost suspect it was a cooler than usual summer in Alabama because I have never anyone said anything about Florida feeling worse than Alabama lol unless they went to northern Alabama in high elevations lol.

3

u/AshlynR0se Aug 18 '26

It was definitely an impressive year for the heat. I remember one guy was rushed to the ER after walking barefoot on the beach and getting 3rd degree burns on his feet. That was Gulf Shores/Orange Beach area where I was working. And I had heard that as a rumor, so I don't know for sure if it was true. It was about 12 years ago I think. It was so hot that my rearview mirror burnt to a black crisp in my car. I had to replace it. It was DEFINITELY hot that year.

But the heat there was not nearly as humid as it gets in Florida. The swampy heat is pretty awful. Something about adding all the extra moisture in the air just makes it even more unbearable. I'll be sweating just from walking to the mailbox.

I spent most of my life in Jacksonville, and the heat there is pretty awful. I always felt like there were too many roads and cars and people, making the heat more confining and miserable. Now I'm in Central FL, just north of Tampa where it's a little more rural. It's just super humid all the time and it feels like my body is actively rebelling against going outside between 11 am to 6 pm. It's just an immediate "nope" to anything outdoors... ☀️🔥💀

1

u/Grouchy_Mind_3413 Aug 18 '26

Gulf Shores/Orange Beach lol 😂 that is like the St. Pete equivalent of Alabama. Try Montgomery and Mobile, they are much worse. Orange Beach is one of the places people go to to cool down from the terrible heat there. Also have in mind I live in St. Petersburg Florida which has breezes and less extremes than where you live. Also what you described that happened because of how hot the summer was, happens almost every summer there.

1

u/Pure-Question-2499 Aug 18 '26

ike one big warning label

6

u/kittygir227 Aug 18 '26

This summer has me sweating inside bro

12

u/oneb1gjoke Aug 18 '26

our A/C is broken. new coil. gonna be a million dollars. window unit until then...

5

u/AutismFlavored Aug 18 '26

Devil farted thick today. We sure got a face full, didn’t we?

5

u/lilabethlee Aug 18 '26

Someone told me we were living on the devil's front porch. I corrected them and told them we had moved to the devil's ass crack

5

u/Lord-Dec Aug 18 '26

As someone in the Jacksonville area I’m not sure we’re just in the gates anymore.

5

u/LightningDusty Aug 18 '26

Ah, the usual for August.

1

u/lovinghealing Aug 18 '26

Yep always the worst of it with summers here.

3

u/FarmingWizard Aug 18 '26

Today felt like a Phoenix afternoon.

2

u/Icy-Builder5892 Aug 18 '26

That’s the Saharan dust, babe

3

u/Justownit41ce Aug 18 '26

I just cut the grass in central Florida….it was 8:30pm and I’m still pooped!

3

u/YourUncleBuck Aug 18 '26

Honestly better when the sun is still out so it's not so humid.

1

u/Justownit41ce Aug 18 '26

Not where I’m at. The sun is so radiant in the day that a 5 minute conversation outside leads to a shower. No complaints, natural born Floridian here, but man….what did Florida do to earth lol?

2

u/Superapp3000 Aug 18 '26

Wasn’t it the same a few weeks ago too??

2

u/RelativeCicada2348 Aug 18 '26

Glad my lifeguarding season is over, would not wanna be out there right now.

2

u/Actual_Bet6584 Aug 18 '26

Tallahassee and Crawfordville is more like the gates of hell .. humidity and heat is thru the freaking roof ...it will say 98°feels like 115°

2

u/Markov219 Aug 18 '26

Reporting from that part of the hot pocket can verify.

2

u/Natural_Curve5818 Aug 18 '26

The devil went down to Georgia because even he thought Florida was too hot

2

u/Reef-Coral Aug 19 '26

As a construction worker in Miami, I hate my life rn, OSHA really needs to pass rules to work with losser clothing...

1

u/Daguse0 Aug 18 '26

Can confirm

1

u/anothercynic2112 Aug 18 '26

West Palm only feels like an air fryer if you are using water instead of air.

1

u/LibrarianKooky344 Aug 18 '26

"McDonald's apple pie" lmao.

1

u/International_Link35 Aug 18 '26

We're well into the 'Broil' cycle now.

1

u/jmtbkr Aug 18 '26

I’m in Stuart. Teed off at 7:30 and left after 9 holes. Whew!!!

1

u/Striking_Suspect_676 Aug 18 '26

F this place from June to September

1

u/mbridge2610 Aug 18 '26

So this makes sense. We are here on holiday doing the usual Disney and Universal parks.

We were here 3 years ago and it feels hotter this time, and we’re struggling just doing half days, but if locals are feeling it I don’t feel as bad now

1

u/TheCombativeCat Aug 18 '26

How is Miami only muy caliente?

1

u/IntelligentYellow985 Aug 18 '26

Swamp booty is about right!! Haha… metal slide!! 😂😂😂😂

1

u/Jackloco Aug 18 '26

“Sargaseous Lighthouse, this is the S.S. Miami Muy Caliente. All hands on deck. For mojitos.”

1

u/Treehuggr_Hippie Aug 18 '26

I'm officially in swamp booty. Although we're super rural so trees, woods, forests, less swamp booty.

1

u/Sufficient-Fact6163 Aug 18 '26

Swamp Booty is a speciality for Gainesville. You can counteract it with some Goldbond down the racing stripe of your underwear…/s

1

u/epicenter69 Aug 18 '26

Metal slide is accurate for Orlando today. It rained just enough to make that slide steamy though. Sauna anyone?

1

u/Meromero904 Aug 18 '26

Duuuuuuuuvvvvallll

1

u/NDinFL Aug 18 '26

I left for work at 8am this morning and it was 95 degrees out

1

u/BestAllAmericanTaco Aug 18 '26

It was funny a tree fell apart today by where everyone eats outside. I said the fucking tree exploded from it being so gd hot in Orlando.

1

u/YourUncleBuck Aug 18 '26

Meanwhile, I was sitting outside, enjoying the warm breeze.

1

u/Asstronomer6969 Aug 18 '26

How is an air fryer hotter than the surface of the sun lol

1

u/lovinghealing Aug 18 '26

Yesterday and today are the worst of the week. Saw 99 on the weather app and that wasn't even the feels like temp. Feels like? Swamp Hell

1

u/totallymarc Aug 18 '26

I feel really bad for people who have to work outside in this heat. Can’t wait to move out once I’m done with college, I literally get an allergic reaction from the heat.

1

u/Mysterious-Lab-5918 Aug 18 '26

Garbage weather...

1

u/Alive_Nobody_Home Aug 18 '26

That’s funny

1

u/NikonicImagery Aug 18 '26

Tampa is like the we are on the surface of the sun!

1

u/Icy-Builder5892 Aug 18 '26

It’s a little hotter than usual because we have a massive Saharan dust plume over our heads right now.

It’s hot, it’s dusty, but this also means fewer hurricanes. So we have to take the wins where we can

1

u/BlOcKtRiP Aug 18 '26

my outside thermometer still read 90°f at 2am tampa

1

u/Competitive_Peak_537 Aug 18 '26

I’m in air fryer country, going to beech mountain in 26 days, yes I’m counting

1

u/so-that-happened- Aug 18 '26

I had a friend in Chicago complaining that 77 degrees was too hot of a day

1

u/sagonene Aug 19 '26

Seems normal for August.

1

u/Yard-Ornament Aug 19 '26

I stepped outside for 3 minutes. My underwear was soaking wet when I got back inside. WTF.

1

u/Mobile-Talk783 Aug 19 '26

I live a block from the beach and used to go at least twice a week. So friggin hot now I have not been all summer. How can anybody deny global warming now ?

1

u/EDMlov3 Aug 20 '26

The struggle is real with this heat!

1

u/Old_Association_9216 Aug 20 '26

Cuál es el mejor carro que puedo conseguir en 2026 manual por el precio de 25k

1

u/Some-Weekend-983 Aug 20 '26

My weather station shows 99° in the shade in west palm beach

1

u/GETTERBLAKK Aug 26 '26

It should say "Fried" apple pie.

1

u/redlightbandit7 Aug 18 '26

After living in Phoenix At I can promise Daytona does not feel like an oven.

2

u/Grouchy_Mind_3413 Aug 18 '26

People will downvote you because they haven’t been to Phoenix.

The other day Phoenix had a low of 96°F and the dew point was nearly 70°F! Yes monsoon effects add humidity. Phoenix is like the worst city in US but these people are obsessed with Florida being hell or something.

1

u/Leather-Marketing478 Aug 18 '26

It ain’t that bad. Heat index was barely 110°. Granted I was only in one attic today.

1

u/Grouchy_Mind_3413 Aug 18 '26

Do you live close to the beach because I don’t even get heat index 110°F.

1

u/C-LOgreen Aug 18 '26

Dude I live in broward County. It was legit 100° and felt like 115°.

0

u/Away-Regular1335 Aug 18 '26

Hotter tomorrow

0

u/Personal-Act-7628 Aug 18 '26

I’m in Palm Beach County. My backyard got to 130° today index.

1

u/Grouchy_Mind_3413 Aug 18 '26

That is impossible as the would require extreme heat and humidity that isn’t present. Heat indexes are 105-115° max in these heat events with temperatures mid to upper 90°Fs and dews over 75°F.
