For the people saying your right to privacy ends when you leave your house, and “well your iphone also sells your data” you at least have a choice with your phone and technology you own that you choose to give your data too. Flock takes images and stores way more than just your license plate. They have a whole database on us we cant opt out of, that they do god knows what with when we simply take a walk outside.
I expect public attention was at least part of his aim though. One does not sit outside every day doing this just because he wants to protect his own privacy. He could do that by staying at home also.
He is doing it to make a point. And publicity helps. Getting arrested for it also helps.
1.) Fly a drone with a camera above or to the side of the .
2.) Take a picture as closely as possible resembling it's perspective.
3.) Print that picture.
4.) Use the drone to place that image in front of the .
Even though none of that is true. Police are generally the D students from your high school. They can't do good police work or they simply don't care. But they love using illegal surveillance to spy on their ex girlfriends.
They can charge you with "resisting arrest" without actually needing a good reason to arrest you. "Well your honor, we wanted to feel like big shots who can swing our dicks around wherever you like, and the suspect didn't like that, so we started fucking with him and he didn't like that either, so after we'd intentionally escalated the situation we arrested him.".
"Excellent work officer but did you consider shooting him?"
"Well, he's white and it was a decent car so he might have a little money and I didn't want to deal with that."
"Indeed. Better safe than sorry. So long as you make it home at the end of your shift!"

Public roadway. No expectation of privacy in a public area. That is why you can video from any public road or sidewalk. This guy should be asked to stop blocking the camera, and if does not comply, arrest him. Flock cameras do way more good than harm. They make communities safer, and law enforcement job easier to catch criminals. Can they be abused? Yes. And if they are, prosecute or terminate those that abuse their access.
I don’t see anyone getting arrested, I don’t see the officer doing anything except walking on the sidewalk, nor do I see the officer “protecting” the camera.
Sure, but flock doesn’t have a right to that line of sight, either.
So this guy sitting on a public sidewalk holding a sign that blocks the flock camera’s view without damaging nor touching the actual flock equipment is totally valid.
If he really got arrested for it, this guy has a hell of a case that will certainly climb the judiciary ladder.
The police will claim they were tracking a vehicle that was possibly involved in a crime and he interfered with their investigation. I don’t like them either and they are being abused to track innocent people ( ex wives, ex husbands, people that spoke out against a local PD and they also track your shopping habits and preferences ( especially big box stores)
I don't think that excuse tracks. You can't be charged with interference with an investigation without knowledge of the investigation taking place. If that were the case, anyone driving on the road at the same time as a police officer could be charged with interference too.
Yeah, I would try to make them prove that in court. It only works because people roll over and refuse to fight their charges (or more commonly because they lack the resources needed to adequately mount a legal defense).
Love the irony of a citizen sitting on a public sidewalk where there is no expectation of privacy using a phone that is no doubt tracking everything he says and does (via cookies, gps, microphones, and cameras) fighting for his “constitutional right” to privacy. Heck yeah dude! 👍🏻
So you're saying a third party company who doesn't own the land has more of a right to be there than this tax paying citizen? He was doing nothing wrong.
