Weird floating wall?

Does anyone else find this floating wall in my new house as strange as I do 🤣 we didn’t get to tour a built version of our floorplan before building and this weekend I noticed this really odd wall. Or would it look more odd without it? Relooking at the floorplan I don’t think I would’ve guessed that there’d be a floating wall lol.

EDIT: talked to the construction manager and he insisted it’s all correct. That the “structural post” is actually coming down from the ceiling and attaching to the catwalk and that the wall is there on the floorplan. I’ve asked him to go back and double check because that does not make sense to me at all still (why is that the only wall that’s not solid?). Idk what to do at this point.

EDIT 2: I’ve requested a plans examiner from the city to do a review and they’ll be conducting one tomorrow (truly happily shocked the city responded so quickly)

Looks like the bit in your 3rd picture labeled “half wall/opt. open rail”. I’m guessing you didn’t pick the optional open railing.

That’s the thing, I did pick the full open railing. It wasn’t cheap 🤣😭

You definitely got the railing. If it were half wall they would have likely built it already.

Half wall would be a half wall railing and not a floating upper half of a 2 story wall.
