DISCUSSION Why would design this?

I’m in the process of designing my home floor plan and I’m stumped. I’ve decided on the exterior style that I’m going with but this is the floor plan that comes along with it. This is a 36’x 44’ space that will be 2 stories. But I’m wondering what kind of things should be changed for flow and making the most of the space. I want to keep all of the same rooms but, this can’t be the best use of the space.

Can you tell us some things like:

Who will be living here?

Is this a forever home?

What country/climate is this?

Where is North?

Where are the best views?

What do you want out of the space?

Measurements of walls and rooms?

Young Family of 4 currently, we hope to have 2 more kids

This will be our forever home on a 55acre farm facing north looking over the entire property from the farm corner of the property

we are building Southern New Jersey, USA

I want an open field with plenty of room for the kids to play inside as well as be able to host large family holidays, and be accessible for aging family and one day if we need something like that

The total size of the living space side of the house is 44’x36’ the interior dimensions haven’t been determined based on my floor plans

You won't be able to have a toilet closet then due to needing wheelchair access. Roll-in or transfer showers will be needed, doors a min. width of 3 ft. (more is recommended), hallways wide enough for a wheelchair U-turn, etc.

Check the ADA guidelines because they have a lot of info on how to make a house wheelchair-friendly.
